Chapter 10

Eunhyuk shook his head repeatedly. "No, no, no." He said over and over. Eunhyuk held on tightly to his things and ran out of the house.

He ran until he reached a small park. He sat down at the bench and let tears flow out of his eyes. After a good minute of crying he wiped the tears with his shirt cuff.

"Ah, I still have Donghae's clothes on." He laughed at himself. Then he remembered why left Donghae's so quickly. "Augh, that boy, my heart hurts so much for him." He smiled to himself.

He smiled out of irony.
His heart was broken.
His soul was broken.
He was going to be living with the people he truly hated most.
The place he had called home for so long was being destroyed.
All in one day.
If he died right now, Eunhyuk wouldn't care.

-

"Yeah, set up a lunch date with him." A man spoke into his blutooth headset. He stepped down onto the street without looking both ways.

A dump truck strolled down the street at normal speed. The driver looked out his front window and saw a man crossing the street. He slammed on his horn. He pushed down on his breaks, but nothing happened.

Eunhyuk looked up at the loud horn sound. He saw a man crossing the street directly in front of him and a big truck barreling down the street. Eunhyuk jumped up and threw his things down without a moment of thinking. He rushed out into the street and grabbed hold of the man crossing. Eunhyuk pushed the man out of the way and barely got out of the truck's path in time.

The man sat up in the street and watched the truck slowly decelerate until it was at a small crawl. He looked up at the boy in front of him. He had his arms on his knees in a bowing position. "You, you saved my life!" The man exclaimed.

Eunhyuk panted, "Think nothing of it."

"Think nothing of it? What, son, do you know who I am?!" The man stood up and walked up to the boy.

"No sorry I don't own a TV." Eunhyuk looked at the man, hoping he would figure out his identity.

"No TV, hah that's cute." He laughed. "I am the mayor of Detroit and future candidate for governor of Michigan!"

"Oh, your welcome." Eunhyuk said, humbly.

"Come on, lets go to the hospital and get you checked out, okay?" The Mayor said.

"I am fine." Eunhyuk shook his head.

"No come on. Just make sure you didn't injure yourself." The Mayor insisted.

Eunhyuk shrugged. "I guess if you insist."

-

"You are perfectly healthy." The doctor said after a moment of reading his charts.

"So I can go now?" Eunhyuk urged on.

"Heh heh just about. There are some things you need to sign before you leave." The doctor closed his chart and slid it into the a small slot on the door. "If you just go outside and speak with the nurse at the information booth she will give you the forms."

"Okay, thank you doctor." Eunhyuk hopped off the doctor's bench and left the doctor's room.

"Here just sign these wavers and you will be free to leave." A red headed nurse handed Eunhyuk a stack of papers. Eunhyuk took them and started to read over and sign them.

"Here he is! The boy that saved my life!" The Mayor walked over to Eunhyuk and patted him on the back.

A group of cameras and news reporters huddled over to Eunhyuk and the Mayor. Flashing lights blinded Eunhyuk and a reign of questions deafened him.

"What is it like being a hero?" A lady reporter held a microphone close to Eunhyuk.

"I uh hero I'm not a hero." Eunhyuk shook off the title. "I just pushed him out of the way."

"Why did you do it?" A different reporter asked this time.

"He was going to die! I did what I had to do!" Eunhyuk squinted to see what reporter was asking what.

"Were you scared? You could have died! What are your thoughts on that." The lady reporter from before bombarded.

"I I no I wasn't scared and I didn't care if I died." Eunhyuk pushed through the crowd of reporters.

"Do you have a death wish?" A new reporter asked.

"No! Just leave me alone I just want to go home!" Eunhyuk shouted.

The Mayor broke out of the crowd and hurried up to Eunhyuk. "Excuse me boy, can I get your name?"

"Eunhyuk Lee, now please I just want to go home. Where's my stuff? Ah I dropped it at the park." Eunyhuk cursed.

"Heh, my name is Junhae Lee. Oh don't worry Eunhyuk my assistant picked up your bag and school uniform. They are waiting in my car if you would like to pick them up." Mr. Lee said.

"Uh yes, I would like to pick them up. Thank you." Eunhyuk said.

"No, no don't thank me. I need to tank you. Please come to my house tonight for dinner. I can thank you properly there." Mr. Lee offered.

"Uh thank you, but no thank you. I have a lot of packing to do." Eunhyuk turned down.

"I'm a very persistent person." Mr. Lee smiled. Eunhyuk stopped dead in his tracks.

That line brought him back to that fateful day. Donghae had said that line when Eunhyuk refused to take his school coat. "I, I heard that line before." Eunhyuk smiled like a fool.

"Hah well yes, it was part of my campaign when I was running for mayor." Mr. Lee said.

"Oh," Eunhyuk said, "yeah that's where I must have heard it from." Eunhyuk lied.

"So dinner, tonight, I would be very grateful if you came." Mr. Lee urged on.

"Yeah, sure." Eunhyuk nodded, his mind focused solely on Donghae. Though he didn't know Donghae was the mayor's son.

"Okay here is my address, be there around four." Mr. Lee pulled out a small business card and handed it to Eunhyuk.

"Eh, okay." Eunhyuk took the card and shoved it into Donghae's plaid pajama pants.

@Tee Fannie:: yes, i was thinking of using their english names since it takes place in America but i quickly shook that idea off since it would confuse me and possibly you the readers. Also I wanted to have it set in Korea, but I don't know a thing about korean politics or foster systems(but i know about american/michigan politics and foster systems). (and i live in detroit michigan, and on the nicer side of the the city there are a lot of asian american immigrants)
