This ninja brought him back to that place.
That place he was able to forget.
Forget his past.
Forget the pain he suffered.
Forget his birth parents.
Forget the fact his parents who he hated with a passion were coming back for him tomorrow.
Forget the fact his home was going to be tore down to make a new commissions building.
Forget all the pain he's suffered the past few days.
Forget about Sophia, and Kim, and the mayor.
Forget about Donghae.
Dancing with this person, this person that was just like Donghae.
That was right, Eunhyuk thought, this person, is so much like Donghae. But he isn't. I know he isn't. It would be too good to believe. This person made me forget about Donghae. There's no way it's him.
Donghae swayed with the music. His partner was so light and graceful on his feet. He was like a swan. Donghae never danced with someone like this. Someone that danced so beautifully.
Donghae felt as if it were just him and his 18th century dance partner. Dancing on a cloud. Just them. Dancing. Without anyone else.
Without the world.
Without the worries.
Without Sophia
or Dad
Without anything else, but them.
Without Eunhyuk.
For a quick minute Donghae was able to get his mind of Eunhyuk. Off the fact his love was with someone else. Yeah, Donghae thought, Sophia was right. This dance was able to get my mind of Eunhyuk.
"You re a wonderful dancer." Donghae said once the music stopped playing.
Eunhyuk lifted his head off Donghae's shoulder and pulled back a bit. "Thanks, you are a good dancer too."
Donghae stared into the purple mask around Eunhyuk's face and into his eyes. Donghae felt like he was staring into his partner's soul. Deep into his heart.
"I feel like I know you from somewhere." Donghae said, still lost in Eunhyuk's eyes.
Eunhyuk tore his eyes away from Donghae. "I don't think so. I don't get out much." He said and stared at a small crevice in the floor.
"Oh..." Donghae said and stared at the same crevice as Eunhyuk.
Eunhyuk looked back at Donghae and started to say something when his voice was overshadowed by that of the mayor's. "Hello ladies and gentleman. And welcome to the Governor's 10th Annual Holiday Ball. Now I know I'm not the Governor....yet!" The mayor laughed. "But I will be running this upcoming fall." The crowed cheered. "And to kick off my campaign I'll be opening up a new government office on the corner of Pike and Hazel street."
That's when Eunhyuk remembered everything he forgot while dancing with Donghae. His birth parents were to be picking him up bright and early tomorrow. He hadn't even packed yet. He hadn't even applied the puzzle glue he picked up from a corner store onto the fireworks puzzle. He had so much to do before his parents came. "Uh, do you have the time?" Eunhyuk asked Donghae in a rushed voice.
Donghae pulled out his phone and hit the button on the side. A bright LCD screen lit up. The new voice message icon appeared. Donghae canceled the screen and checked the time, 11:57. "3 minutes til midnight. Why?"
Eunhyuk cursed himself. "I have to leave. I forgot something I had to do." Eunhyuk said and stared to rush through the crowd.
Donghae chased after him. He hadn't even gotten a name or anything about this mysterious boy. Donghae tried to keep up with Eunhyuk but he couldn't navigate his way through the crowd of people.
Eunhyuk hurried out of the group of people and stumbled. "Ugh." He quickly got up, but didn't realize his left shoe had fallen off.
He ran out of the hall and into the cold night air. He found Kim's car and tried the passenger handle. Shockingly it was unlocked. He quickly opened the door and got in. He grabbed his clothes and shoes he was wearing earlier today. He quickly changed out of his clothes and tossed them in the back of the car.
Donghae broke out of the crown and hurried towards the doors. He stopped at a show on the ground. He didn't get a good look at what the 18th century gentleman was wearing, but he had a feeling this was his. He bent down and picked it up. "Hah, just like Cinderella." He laughed and remembered why he was there. "Oh." He got up and ran out the door.
No one. Not even the ushers were standing outside. Donghae looked around the parking lot, but found no one. "Hello?" He called out. No one replied. He sighed and remembered the phone message he had received.
He quickly pulled out his phone and dialed his inbox. "Password." A recorded voice said over the phone. Donghae quickly typed in his four digit code and listened in. "You have one unheard message. First unheard message sent December 21 11:47 PM Your unheard message: 'Donghae! It's Sophia! I found Kim in the dance hall. Eunhyuk came with her to the dance. He is wearing this weird 18th century get up. I haven't seen him yet, but when I do I'll send him your way.' Message ended. To replay this message press 3. To reply to this message pre-"
Donghae shut his phone. Everything seemed to sink in perfectly. It all made sense. Sophia's message was the last piece to the puzzle. The person I was dancing with...was Eunhyuk!
Donghae ran into the parking lot and started to shout his name. "Eunhyuk! Eunhyuk!"
Eunhyuk ran as fast as he could down the sidewalk. Luckily for him, his orphanage was only twenty minutes away. He'd be able to get there and finish all he needed to do before his birth parents picked him up.
