"Hey, do you see a pastel green piece anywhere?" Donghae asked.
"No. I'll look for them, though." Eunhyuk replied back.
Donghae opened his mouth to say something else, but stopped.
He was feeling unusually weird.
Usually, his body was tense and his mind couldn't focus on just one thing.
But right now, it was different.
He felt relaxed, at ease.
And his mind felt free.
As if Eunhyuk had unlocked it.
He just couldn't explain what he was going through.
Eunhyuk let out a soft sigh.
A sharp pain shot in his chest.
He struggled to fend of his feelings.
Donghae made him feel special.
He made him feel like a person.
No one in his life has ever made him feel that way.
Eunhyuk swallowed hard, a knot formed in the back of his throat.
Tears stung his eyes.
He wanted so much to like Donghae.
"Eun?" Donghae stared at Eunhyuk.
Eunhyuk was staring down at the puzzle, frozen.
"Eun?" Donghae repeated himself.
Eunhyuk looked up and cleared his throat, "Yeah?"
"Uh," Donghae forgot what he was going to say. "Uhm," He looked down and remembered, "Oh yeah, I finished the Statue of Liberty. Come look."
Eunhyuk got up and walked over to Donghae. He crouched close to Donghae and stared at the miniature New York monument. "Cool," Eunhyuk said in awe. "I've always wanted to go there."
Donghae turned his head slightly, it was only inches from Eunhyuk's. He stared at Eunhyuk's lips. He wanted so badly to kiss those lips again.
Eunhyuk saw Donghae staring at him out of the corner of his eyes. He turned his head and met Donghae's eyes. He bit the inside of his bottom lip. He wanted to kiss Donghae. But he knew it was wrong, he shouldn't be having these urges.
Donghae separated his lips, slightly. He prepared himself to kiss Eunhyuk. He slowly moved his head closer to Eunhyuk.
Eunhyuk froze. He knew what Donghae was doing. Eunhyuk started to question his next action. His mind said no, but his body said yes. Despite the strong fight his body put up, his mind and logic won in the end. "I, uh," He stuttered. He got up quickly and went back to his spot, across from Donghae.
Donghae sighed and went back to the puzzle. "It's beautiful."
Eunhyuk looked up at Donghae, puzzled by what he just said. "Huh?"
"The Statue of Liberty, it's beautiful." Donghae said.
"Oh..." Eunhyuk nodded, "it looks beautiful." Eunhyuk finished.
Donghae didn't say anything else. He just went back to searching through piece and putting them together, occasionally looking up at Eunhyuk.
Eunhyuk did the same. He only looked up at Donghae once.
A few hours had passed and the boys hadn't said anything else to each other. Eunhyuk had started to feel sleepy, but Donghae felt wide awake.
Eunhyuk looked up at Donghae. He was focusing hard on the puzzle. Eunhyuk didn't bother telling him he was going to be going to sleep. Eunhyuk laid down on his side and curled up into a ball. He closed his eyes and tried to sleep.
"Eunhyuk, I have to tell you something," Donghae said, a few minutes after Eunhyuk fell asleep. "I, I can't hide it anymore, Eunhyuk," Donghae continued, unaware Eunhyuk was asleep, "Eunhyuk, I like you."
Donghae closed his eyes and waited for Eunhyuk's reply. He waited. And waited, and waited some more. "Eunhyuk?" Donghae looked up and saw Eunhyuk curled up in a ball. Donghae laughed at himself. "Oh, you're asleep." Donghae shook his head and wanted to laugh some more.
He had just confessed his feelings for Eunhyuk, something he was dying to do, but couldn't find the courage to do so. But when he finally does find the courage, and confesses, its when Eunhyuk is asleep. "Figures," Donghae shook his head once more before getting up. "The ground must be awfully uncomfortable." Donghae walked over to Eunhyuk.
He stared down at the slumbering boy. He looked so peaceful. Donghae contemplated his next actions for a long time. Donghae sighed and scooped Eunhyuk up in his arms. Eunhyuk was surprisingly light.
Eunhyuk slightly opened his right eye. He only saw Donghae's gray shirt. He closed his eye and pretended to be asleep again.
Donghae pulled down the covers to his bed and laid Eunhyuk down gently. He pulled up the covers over Eunhyuk's body. He continued to stare down at Eunhyuk. He looked just like an angel.
Donghae didn't spend a second thinking about his next move. He just went for it. He slowly brought his face to Eunhyuk's and gave him a small kiss on the lips. "Goodnight, Eunhyuk." He said after kissing the "sleeping" Eunhyuk.
