Chapter 13

Annabelle 7

The next few days after his meeting with his old time friend Jiro was extremely hectic and crazy for Chun.

He could barely sit down and focus on doing anything before images of Ella will pop up into his mind and after having a few minutes with the images, he’ll have to rush to the phone to call Jiro up.

So in attempt to numb his mind of the forever-lasting and longed for images of Ella, he’ll try to set his mind on working, working, and working.

Though no matter how much effort he put in to try to numb his mind, it didn’t work for it was only able to minimize his dreaming and imagining ability slightly.

He was only able to focus on his work for no more than a few minutes before he’ll rush off to make another phone call to Jiro again.

Unable to focus his mind on his job with Chun’s constant phone calls to check on his status of work, Jiro had no other choice but to block Chun’s phone calls.

But before Chun will give up on trying to reach Jiro in any way he could, Jiro had to promise Chun that he’ll call him as soon as he get any news on Ella, even if it was just about the color of Ella’s hair.

During the long wait for Jiro’s phone call, Chun ate and slept very little.

Finally just one day before the one week deadline, Jiro came marching into Chun’s office.

Chun didn’t even bother to even glance up to see who had entered his very own private headquarters for the past week, when he started yelling at the ‘intruder’.

“Get out, you damn intruder!!!” he screamed.

“Get your ugly butt out of here!”

Surprised by Chun’s sudden anger, Jiro almost backed out of the room, but he thought better of it.

Retracing his steps back into Chun’s office, he bent over the dark oak wood table and waved the thick brown envelope he brought along in front of Chun’s face.

Growling, Chun tried to grab the envelope to throw away, but Jiro was quicker than Chun and was so persistent in waving the envelope to get Chun’s attention that finally Chun gave up to look to see who is so persistent in bugging him.

Hands clenched into fists, Chun slowly raised his head to look at the person who had dared to bother him at a time like this, levelly in the eye.

Finally Chun realized that he was actually looking into Jiro’s warm concerned eyes.

Holding off his anger a minute longer, he threw a quick analyzing glance over at Jiro, who stood there, unflinchingly under the uncomfortable look.

As Chun’s quick analyzing gaze traveled up and down over Jiro’s stunning profile, it finally landed on the thick brown envelope tucked safely into the arms of Jiro’s.

Unable to contain his excitement any longer, Chun immediately jumped to his feet and dash toward Jiro’s side like an excited little boy on Christmas Day and made a grab for the envelope like it was a gift from Santa Claus on Christmas morning, but once again Jiro was surprisingly still too quick for Chun.

Jiro raised and held the envelope high over his head, out of Chun’s reach as a large strong hand was placed on Chun’s chest to keep him calm and down enough to not prance up on top of Jiro and attack him like on a challenging high school football game.

Chun saw that he had no other choice but to listen to whatever Jiro has in store for him.

Reluctantly, Chun plopped back down onto his chair.

Adjusting the chair to face toward Jiro, Chun waited slightly impatiently for Jiro to begin his ‘long boring speech’ on his terms and conditions in order for Chun to get his hands on the envelope.

While Chun had his big brown eyes glued steadily to the big tightly clutched envelope in Jiro’s hands, Jiro began his ‘speech’.

Waving the envelope in front of Chun’s face, he began “Chun, if you really want this envelope containing all of the information that you can ever find on Ella, then you better come to lunch with me as you had promised.”

Chun gave no response as his eyes was still focused intently on the envelope, so Jiro continued on “Remember, you promised me that you will never go back on your words, so let's go out to lunch or you won’t get any information on Ella.”

Chun still gave no response of ‘yes’ or ‘no’, so Jiro added jokingly “Be glad I’m saving you money. We don’t even need to go to a five-star restaurant. It can even be a no-star restaurant if you’ll eat the food.”

Thinking of the worst, Jiro tried to get Chun’s attention by snapping his fingers in front of Chun’s face.

A few seconds passed by before Chun finally snapped out of his trance.

Simply, he said “Oh, okay. Whatever, I get the point. You want food, you’ll get it.”

Getting up, Chun slapped down a couple of hundred dollar bills onto the desk top before continuing with a “Here. Here, you go. Go treat yourself to something good and I’ll go up to your office to pay up the other detective fees as soon as possible.”

In a rush, Chun quickly leveled himself up from the chair and made a grab for the envelope, surprisingly quicker than Jiro for once.

He was hurrying out to the door, when a strong hand gripped his arm painfully firm.

Chun tried to struggle free, but Jiro’s grip was tighter than a steel rock.

Finally, reluctantly annoyed, Chun turned to look at Jiro with an ashen dark look on his face, asking in frustration “What now? I already gave you money for the food. So why don’t you leave me alone now? I got to find her…….”

His last word almost came out almost as a plead but his pride kept him from stooping that low.

Jiro moved to stand face to face with Chun and grabbed the envelope back.

In a cold voice, he bit out “Lunch. Or nooo…. Ella.”

Feeling really trapped, Chun couldn’t think of another way out, so he finally did the one thing he hated- Surrender.

Grabbing his suit jacket and briefcase along with a phone, he stalked out in a huff with Jiro trailing close behind.

They went out to a local café, where Chun piled the food into his mouth as much and as fast as it could go in.

He had the world’s fastest timed lunch and if not, it should be.

After they had both finished their lunch, Chun made a call to his private jet and told them to get ready for a flight out before biting out heatedly loud “Can I have the damn envelope now and be excused?”

Heads turned as eyes focused to look at him as he reached over to take the envelope out of Jiro’s hands.
