Chapter 21

Annabelle 11

After making sure that Chun and Ella were each still lying in their own hospital room sound asleep, the nurses didn’t even stop for a second as they bustled out into the hospital’s busy hallways.

Without even taking a moment of hesitation, the nurses hurried off to call Chun’s and Ella’s best friend at once.

On the other side, Ella’s best friend was still in her office doing paperwork, when the shrill ‘Ringggggggggggggg…..’ made her jump up in surprise.

She went over to pick up the phone and nodded throughout the whole conversation before heading out to her car.

In Jiro’s office, his cell phone jumped to life on his desk.

He picked up the phone and almost dropped it as he listened to what the caller had to say.

After he ended the phone call, Jiro rushed into his car and sped towards the airport on the fastest speed possible as if he was searching for his loved one, not his best friend.

At the airport, Jiro was just waiting around impatiently to get the next quickest flight out to Chun, when he spotted Ella’s ‘best friend, Selina.

He pretended that he didn’t see her and hurriedly quickened his haste off to the terminal of his flight.

Surprisingly Selina was following close behind him.

He kept on walking, but soon the clicking of her heels got closer and closer to him.

Turning around he asked her rudely “Why are you here? Are you stalking me?”

Shocked and surprised was clearly written on Selina’s face as she came face to face with her ex.

She darted nervous looks around at the curious on-lookers as she said hotly "Who do you think you are? Why will I follow such a low-life like you?”

They both stared menacing at each other as their eyes glowed red hot with a firing thunder glare as if they two were facing each other down in a life-or-death challenge.

They were still casting each other a mean look, when they heard their flight being called for the last time.

“May all the passengers for this flight please get on right now?” was the last thing their mind registered when they broke off the eye-staring contest despite not one of them wanted to lose as they made a fast mad dash to their flight terminal.

They got onto the passenger filled plane with cheeks flushed red in apology and settled down into their very own seat before turning around to check out who their neighbor will be for the next few hours.

They turned around and were surprised by who was actually sitting next to them.

“You!” they screamed louder than the intercom.

“What are you doing here?” they both screamed at each other, as several flight attendants hurried up to them both to figure out what the loud commotion was all about.

The other passengers innocently stared on at them as they both murmured sheepishly “Nothing, nothing.”

Embarrassed by all the attention that they had attracted, they ducked down their heads and sat down onto their seat without another word.

Though as Selina began to settle down into her chair, an idea popped into her mind.

Standing up, she called out to the flight attendant that was slowly disappearing, catching other passengers’ attention “Wait. Do you have any other seats available? I would like to switch seat.”

Annoyed and irritated by the two, the flight attendant snapped in anger “No! And now if you may sit down and fasten your seat belts before we take off. If you don’t like this flight, then get off and get onto a different plane.”

Walking fast away, the flight attendant’s clicking heels echoed in the long silence.

Selina felt like she had just lost pride and sat down in mime-like movements.

Quiet and feeling desperately guilty like a small child that felt bad after getting severe scolding, they both sat quietly like a little mouse without a single word coming out of their mouth as the plane took off.

The plane was settling high up in the air filled sky with the clouds acting as beautifully soft marshmallow pillows, when the seat belt sign went off with a ‘ding’.

The automatic voice began “You may now take off your seat belt and take a stroll around the airplane.”

Jiro hurriedly unbuckled his seat belt and scampered away to the far back of the plane before another thought could invade his mind.

It was like he would die if he stayed even a second longer with Selina.
