He was surprised to discover that the quick glimpse of the back seat of her minivan she got was just not any kind of minivan, but the ones with specially created built-in car seats for families with children though he didn’t think too much about it as he hurried off into the hospital in search for Arron.
In a much slower trance, Gui Gui walked into the hospital after Wang Zi, slower than a turtle and snail with her mind focused intently on someone.
She was so lost in her own little world of thoughts that she didn’t even see an emergency gurney rolling out from a corner of the hall on its speedy four wheels towards her way.
By the time she spotted the gurney peeking out from a corner of her eye with its team of doctors and nurses chasing after it, it was too late.
The gurney with its patient knocked her out of the way and one of the waiting patients gave her a big push so that the gurney wouldn't hit her.
All was too late as Gui Gui wasn’t able to re-gain her balance, so she fell down with her head hitting on a sharp knife-like-blade table corner.
Without a moment of hesitation, darkness immediately began to engulf her and she blanked out with the name “Jacob Matthew Qiu” in her mind.
The supposedly ‘waiting patient’ that pushed her left the hospital in a flash as she turned around to see Gui Gui’s fall.
WAng Zi was just walking around still looking for Arron’s room, when he saw a still form lying on the hospital’s cold floor that looked remarkably like Gui Gui.
His heart and mind screamed loudly ‘No! No! It’s not Gui Gui! It just can't be her!’ as he ran as fast as his legs would carry him to the still form’s side.
His heart jumped out of his chest in fear, when he saw that his worst fear was confirmed.
The still slim figure lying on the floor in a thick pool of blood was indeed Gui Gui.
As he got even closer still, his heart fell cold and dead at the sight of her lying so lifelessly on the floor in blood that was oozing nonstop from her big wounded head, making a bloody red and black stained pond on the nicely furnished white tiled flooring.
Many vivid thoughts of what could have happened to Gui Gui to cause her to be like this ran into his mind and he feared the worst of what her status is.
Taking an intensively gentle hand, he tried to feel for a pulse without wasting any time.
At first, his own heart was thumping so fast that he missed Gui Gui’s faint pulse.
Gradually his heart slowed down as he could feel her pulse, but it picked up once again as he saw her face starting to loose their natural coloring.
Her once rosy cheeks were now slowly turning into a fainter and fainter pink with her face color slowly turning from a normally colored white skin into a sickly yellowish white skin tone.
The white was even becoming to fade more and more into a pale deathly white that only a spot of her natural color can be viewed peeking out from near her dark purple lips.
Attempting to catch a nurse’s attention, he shouted out a loud and desperate "Help!"
The nearest nurse at the nurse station finally looked up and ran to his aid, helping him lift Gui Gui into his arms without hurting her.
When Wang Zi bended down to slip his arms down under her, he was extremely surprised to hear her muttering another man’s name ‘Jacob. Jacob.’ in soft crying that he almost dropped her down onto the hard cold floor.
Silently he cursed himself for even helping her when she was yet again thinking of another man, but his cursing of himself were silenced at once as he realized that he could have almost dropped and killed her.
His protective instincts, instantly directed his arms to tighten around her.
The nurse helped Wang Zi settle Gui Gui down into an emergency room, while telling another nurse to go call the doctors in a commanding tone, not letting any further arguments to be voiced.
The doctors came in and everyone gasped at the sight of Gui Gui in such a pale state.
After the ‘compliments’, the doctors hurriedly set to work on Gui Gui, while a nurse tried persistently to get Wang Zi out into the busy hallway of the emergency rooms to wait along with other worried families.
The nurse had to go through some long hard pushing before Wang Zi finally complied.
Out in the long big hallway with everyone bustling here and there, Wang Zi felt like everything was coming down at him in a crash of furious activities, engulfing him into a torturous world of darkness and no life.
Inside the emergency room, a nurse took Gui Gui’s purse and went through it, looking for a phone number.
The nurse found Gui Gui’s home phone number and went out to make a call, when Wang Zi ran up to her.
Yanking like a little baby on the nurse’s clothes, he asked anxiously “How is she? How is she?”
The nurse only shook her head and said “I don’t know.”
