Staring at the wall straight ahead, he opened his mouth to answer Ella's question and bear his soul once and for all.
"Before you came along in my life, my mother has always been the first person in my heart. Then later on my sister Abby was born. At first I thought I would hate her for making me share my mother with her; but later on at the first glance at her, she captured my heart and I swore to protect her no matter what happens. Though I swore to love and protect my mother and sister to the best of my capabilities, they soon died under the wheels of a drunk driver as they were walking home from my sister's school. From then on, I told myself that I will never love anyone as much as I had loved them. After their deaths and funerals had taken place, I relocated. The night I relocated, I was walking down the streets when I unexpectedly spotted you. You were with Selina walking and then you turned around and I felt my heart leaped into my throat in shock and in awe of your beauty. It took me awhile to slowly realize that I was starting to develop feelings for you that I couldn't ignore despite all my desperate attempts to tell myself that can't be true and couldn't happen again. In the end I still had to accept the fact that I really had started to love you and that you will be the only one for me and I can't live without you. Now that I think back to it, I was really stupid. I should have known that it was love at first sight, but I avoided it for my greatest fear of what actually acknowledging it would mean. Well even though I promised myself to never let anyone else be that close to me or to ever love anyone as much as I had loved my mother and sister and tried anxiously hard to keep you away, I just couldn't. The love I had for you superseded and overpowered everything else, including any coherent thoughts that I can come up with. I was thinking of the name 'Annabelle' for any daughter I will ever have because 'Anna' will be for my mother Anna and 'Bel' will be for my sister Belinda and I don't know where the 'Le' came from, but now that I think back to it, I think that I was also
subconsciously trying to name the baby after you. Together 'Elle' makes your name, only missing the 'a' sound."
With a sigh and a flutter of his eyes, a tear slid down his face.
It landed on Ella's hair.
She turned around and wiped away the trail of tears, placing the tenderest kind of cheek, following the trail of tears to end on his lips.
After one brief but passionate kiss, Chun prevented all the others with a "As much as I'll like to keep kissing you, I really got to finish this last part."
Ella is now slowly starting to understand his actions and can't afford to give that up, so she nodded her head and resettled herself in his arms.
Her head rested snugly on his chest, while her arms still cradled their daughter.
Chun continued on "That day when you left me, it was the worst day of my life. I thought I had gone from a heaven with an angel especially made for me to a place where no happiness exist and everything only comes in shades of black. I really wanted to go to you to find out what is wrong. I thought I might have did something unconsciously and angered you, but then I couldn't let down the feelings. I knew that if I cared so much about you, then that would mean I have fallen in love with you. So I did everything I could to try to stay away from you. I don't know how many times a day I'll find myself thinking about you and trying to stop the feelings. At long last I just had to give up and have Jiro look for you. That's when I landed in this hospital."
He turned Ella to see her tears flowing out of her eyes.
Putting the baby into the crib, Chun pulled Ella onto his lap and cradled her like a little baby, telling her "I'm glad I ended up here or else I wouldn't have saw you or maybe I mean we wouldn't have this kind of conversation."
This time Ella told Chun to 'shush' and told him 'No. Don't say that. I don't want to see you hurt. That time when I left you, it hurt me so much that I wanted to give up, but I didn't want to tie you down to me if you didn't want me, especially with a child on the way. That's when I decided to leave. I was going to tell you about our precious little baby, but it was too late.'
Tears were flowing much more freely this time that Chun cried along with her.
As the tears subsided a little, Chun said "You know I wouldn't have left you. I loved you so much and I would have been so happy to become a father to our baby."
Ella whispered regretfully "I know now."
Letting go of Ella to kneel down on the floor, Chun took out a heart-shaped diamond ring surrounded by pink and red gemstones nestled in the classy designer box.
Cheeks flushed red, he took Ella's hands into his own and asked sweetly "Ella, will you marry me?"
Before giving him an answer, Ella got down from the bed and helped Chun to rise.
She took the box away from him to place a passionate kiss onto his lips.
When they both went up for a breath, she handed the box to him and teased "Do you still want me to be your wife? You got three seconds to help me put the ring on."
Then mischievously, she started counting "3..." before Chun had the chance to comprehend what she said.
"2...", Chun hurriedly took the ring out from the box and "1..." rushed to put the ring onto Ella's ring finger that just as she said "zero" the ring was already secure on her finger.
