That evening, she put on her tinted glasses and got into her black Jaguar XKR and drove off into the dark streets. She stopped in the parking lot of a restaurant and got out. She locked her car and strolled casually into the restaurant. Two waitresses stood by the doors and greeted her. She smiled at them and entered. She said something to the manager and he led her to a VIP room on the second floor. He opened the door for her and she entered. Just as she entered she heard a familiar laugh.
"Tavia, long time no see," the person laughed again. Tavia nodded. "I see you're still driving your XKR, maybe it's time you change your car," he said.
"I know when it is that I need to change my car Derek, I don't need you to tell me," she snapped.
Derek raised his hands in the air. "You're still as vicious as you always were, that's what I like about you!" he pointed a finger at her, then snapped his fingers together. "You and your partner always is the best," he said. Just at that moment, the doors opened again and in stepped Ron. He was also wearing a pair of tinted glasses. Ron smiled at Derek when he entered. "Old friends are all reunited," Derek laughed again.
"So what is it that you want us to do this time?" Ron asked.
"No need for such a rush, sit down and have a cup of wine first, we'll discuss this slowly," he walked over to the big round table and poured three glasses of red wine. He held up two glasses and both Tavia and Ron took it at the same time. Derek took his cup as well and walked over to the couch and sat down. He took a sip from his glass. "This time, the target is John Sek, brother of Philip Sek," Derek said. He took out of his coat pocket a small stack of pictures and threw them on the table.
"I know that the two of you are great hit men, and women," he joked but neither Tavia or Ron laughed. "So I'll leave this all to you, do what you want, I just want him dead," he said and gripped tighter onto his glass. He then took out of a bag beside him a yellow envelop. He threw it onto the glass coffee table in front of him and looked at the two standing across him. "As usual, I give you half now, and the second half once the job is done. Two hundred fifty thousand, I think that's right, you could count if you want," he said and took another sip of wine.
Ron bent down a little and picked up the envelop. "Alright then," he said and also grabbed the pictures on the table. "Do you want this done in a specific time?" he asked.
Derek laughed again. "You always ask me that, you are a very orderly person aren't you? Well, there isn't really a time limit, just do it as soon as possible," he said.
"Ok, if that is it, then we'll be leaving," Tavia said and put down her glass and so did Ron, then the two left the room together.
They got to the parking lot and reached their car, which happened to be right next to each other. "I thought this one was yours. Still driving this car," Ron chuckled.
"There are some things that I want to forget, and some things that I want to remember," Tavia said sadly.
"Yeah," Ron smiled. He looked at the package in his hand and then threw it to Tavia. Tavia caught it and looked at him with an odd expression. "You know I'm not good with money, you keep it for me for now," he said.
Tavia gave him a slick smile. "What? You're not afraid I'm going to keep it and not give it back?" she asked.
"I trust you," Ron winked at her and opened the door to his car. Tavia also got into her car and both of them started their cars and left the parking lot in opposite directions. Tavia got home that night and it was already past midnight. She had decided to drive around the city before going home. She brought the yellow envelop into her house and into her room. She went into her bathroom and she counted from the ceiling, the fourth from the right and the ninth from the top. She gently tapped it to make sure it was the right one. She easily removed the tile and revealed a metal lock. She punched in a series of numbers and letters and with a click, the locked opened and a few more tiles popped up at the same time. She opened the miniature door and looked inside. Inside was half of all the money she had made in all these years. She threw the package into it, closed the door and locked it back up. She replaced the tile and looked at it with satisfaction.
The following two days, she hadn't contacted Ron. She stayed home and was facing her laptop and computer the whole time. At first she was just playing games on the internet, but then she started checking out her next target, finding out all she could about him, although she continued playing games while she worked.
On the third day, as usual, she received a call from Ron. She invited him over to try her new cake she baked. He agreed and he arrived that afternoon. The doorbell rang and she opened the door for him. He walked in and could already smell the freshly baked cake.
"Smells good, since when did you start liking to bake cakes? How come I never knew?" he asked.
"Oh, I only started half a year ago," she said casually and strolled into the kitchen to see if the cake was ready yet. Ron followed her. He knew why she had suddenly started baking cakes half a year ago, but she never liked talking about it, so he just dropped the topic. She smiled and opened the oven. She took out the cake and placed it on the stove. She then switched plates and brought it outside. She served Ron a piece and had a piece herself. "Maybe when I quit, I'll open a bakery," she laughed. Ron laughed along with her. There was a moment of silence, and they both knew what that meant. Ron finished his last bite and Tavia stood up. "Come with me," she said in a much more serious tone. She led him to her room and she closed the door after he entered.
