She laid in bed until her skin quivered. She felt as if someone was watching her. Angel sat up and her eyes were met with Minwoo's. Those eyes pierce into her body. She clutched the sheet tighter to her. "Minwoo," she gasped out.
"I couldn't sleep," Minwoo answered. "I just had to see you again after all these time. Go back to sleep." His voice, soft and gentle. He had change so much now that Angel could hardly recognize him. But the scar on his cheek and hand, the one from the burning of the house, still remain.
And because of those scars, it reminded Angel of how hard he had struggle to keep their love alive, how he had sacrifice his life for her during the burning. But yet how he had let everything go in one single night.
"Angel," Minwoo's voice came again and pulled her from her thoughts. She stared at him. "Go to sleep," Minwoo instructed gently.
"B-but..."
"But what?"
"What about...you?"
"Me? I'll be here, just watching you. Then I'm gonna go to sleep also," Minwoo answered. Angel laid back down and close her eyes. After some moment of silence, Minwoo walked over to her and knelt next to her. He touched her cheek and Angel cried out.
"Oh!" she gasped and sat up, pulling away immediately. The touched was unexpected. She stared at Minwoo.
"I won't hurt you," Minwoo whispered firmly. "I just want to touch you again, to make sure this is not a dream anymore." He looked away and settle himself comfortably on the ground beside Angel's bed. "I've dream every single night of seeing you again. But when I awoke, I'm always alone, despite the company of my friends." He stared at Angel. "And now...I couldn't believe this is reality."
"So do I," Angel said. Minwoo was quiet for a moment.
"It's been a long time," he said quietly.
"You think three years not enough?" Angel answered in a question. "Three years of tears, Minwoo, of pain, of...memories..."
"I never meant to hurt you," Minwoo said.
"You didn't have to leave me also," Angel replied. Minwoo looked at her. He sighed.
"I guess everyone has their reasons for whatever they do," he answered.
"You don't know how long I've waited," Angel said with tears. "I've waited all those years, waited for you to come back...hoping that you will and that everything will be the same. But you never came back. Those three years were wasted with nothing. All those tears fell for no one."
Minwoo looked away.
"I dream again and again, hoping you would come back," Angel continued. "But you never did. You really did left me; you really did broke our relationship."
"It was something I never intended to do," Minwoo answered.
"You shouldn't have left me in a way that had scarred me."
"I was a gangster, I had to leave you. Would you want your love to sacrifice for you?"
Angel didn't answer. "Why did you came back?" she asked.
"You haunt me everyday," Minwoo answered. "Every single day reminded me of you; reminded me of how precious our love for one another was. It was something I could never forget. When I accidently saw you and that guy name Dong Wook, something tugged at my heart beyond my imagination. And I knew..I knew I had to see you again." Angel sniffed and looked away. "Angel," said Minwoo.
"I thought I had forgotten you," Angel said in a trembling voice. "I thought I could move on. But how can I if you keep on entering my life like this?"
"How can I also forget you, Angel, when you are my every breath, my every heartbeat, my entire life?" Minwoo asked. "Could you forgive me?"
Forgivness...it seem such a hard word all of a sudden.
"I...I can't..," Angel choked out.
"Why?" Minwoo asked, his eyes wanting to searched hers but Angel refuse eye contact.
Angel sniffed back painful tears. "You scarred me, Minwoo. You broke the love that we had share. You left me in the rain. How could I...forgive you..."
"How can I love you if I'm a gangster?"
"But you had quit. And...my dad had said he'll help you," Angel said. "You refuse...you left..."
"I didn't want to be a freeloader. And...like I had say...what bred in the blood will never come out of the flesh," Minwoo answered. "Don't you see, Angel? Everyone have a reason for whatever they do. Have you walk two miles in my shoes? If you have, you would have done the same. Loving someone who's a high class is not as easy as you think."
"Why wouldn't you contact me then?" Angel demanded.
"I did," Minwoo answered. "I had call you twice...but when you pick up, I was afraid. Afraid to talk to you, again."
