Chapter 31

//The Magic Of Memories III//

-Flashback-

Dong Wook and Angel were silent as Dong Wook drove home. Angel was looking at the night scenery passing by. Dong Wook stared at her. "You thinking of someone?" he asked.

"No," Angel answered in a faraway voice.

"Then why do you sound so distant?"

Angel sighed. "The night just remind me of someone," she answered.

"Oh? And who?"

"Someone from the past."

Dong Wook decided not to ask anymore. "Angel...do you trust me?"

Angel stared at Dong Wook, surprise by the question. "Why?" she asked.

"I was just wondering," Dong Wook said. "I mean, I want you to know...that...if you ever need a shoulder to cry on, I'll be the one. You know, to pour your heart out too." Angel smile.

"That's very thoughtful, Dong Wook," she said. "Thanks for the offer."

-Flashback-

"Dong Wook...," Angel said.

"Yes, Angel?"

"Why...why did you want me to go on a date with you in the beginning?" Angel asked. 'Because now I think I'm in love with you,' she thought but did not say it outloud. Dong Wook thought for a moment.

"Maybe to get to know you more," he answered after hesitation. "You were quite a mysterious one and I liked mysterious people. They seem to have something in them that urges me to get to know them more."

"But why me? Why not...like...Kimmi?" Angel asked.

Dong Wook smile. "Kimmi, she's more outgoing and open. She's very pretty and friendly, I'll admit, but, girls are just sometime friends to me, you know? Kimmi, she's a gorgeous girl, but I can never imagine her being my girlfriend."

"And me?" Angel asked.

"You...you're a special one. A purely special one," Dong Wook said. Angel blushed.

-Flashback-

Angel sat silently, saying nothing. Dong Wook entered the room. "Angel," he said. Angel didn't answer her. Dong Wook decide to observe her. She sat there, her eyes full of feelings that she won't say. Dong Wook walked over to her.

"Angel, is something wrong?" he asked. Angel shook her head. "Then why are you so quiet?" he asked, touching her cheek tenderly. Angel again shook her head.

Dong Wook sighed but chose to say no more. He sat down next to Angel. His heart was aching with love for her. Dong Wook was about to speak but the door opened and Dongwan enter.

-Flashback-

"Seem as if you forgot mine," Dong Wook gently teased, handing Angel a small package. Angel opened it to find a ring! A beautiful ring of diamond and saffire. She turned to Dong Wook. "Just for friendship," Dong Wook said.

"You sure you not proposing?" Dongwan teased and Kimmi elbow him harshly. "Ow..."

"Thank you!" Angel said as she hugged Dong Wook tightly.

-End Of Flashback-

-Flashback-

"Angel, what's wrong?" Dong Wook asked. Angel stared at him. "Who are they? How do they know you?"

Angel looked away. "They...," she said. "They're Shinhwa."

"I know that but...how would you know some gangster?"

"Minwoo...he...he was my boyfriend," she told him.

"Your WHAT!?" Dong Wook cried. Angel stared at Dong Wook.

"It's a long story," she said.

"You mind telling?" Dong Wook asked. Angel sighed and the two walked outside. Angel sat on the curb of the street while Dong Wook stood, leaning his back against the streetlight pole.

"Minwoo...we met when they had kidnap me," Angel started. "It wasn't like those regular kidnap. They were gangster, but my cousin was one of them."

"Dongwan?" Dong Wook guessed.

"Yes," Angel said. "I then live with Shinhwa under the guardian of Minwoo...."

Angel then unfolded her past life to Dong Wook:: the three love triangle, the leaving, the confession, the burning, the scars, the tears, the murder, the kidnap, and everything. She then finished it about the part where Minwoo had left her.

"He left me...and scar me," Angel said. "I guess...I guess I then went cold again towards boys..." She gave a light smile. "Until you came along, Dong Wook." She stared at him and Dong Wook stared back. "It wasn't until you came along that I became nice again...." Dong Wook gave a small smile.

"You still love him don't you?" Dong Wook asked and Angel nodded. "I...I got a question...do you love me?"

-End Of Flashback-

-Flashback-

"Maybe because I won't forgive him for leaving me...for hurting me...Maybe that's why I'm still holding onto him..." Angel stared at Dong Wook. "But I still want you by my side..."

Dong Wook blinked. "Why?" he asked.

"To dry all the tears that have flown from my eyes," Angel answered. "To comfort me, to be my shoulder to cry on. And maybe one day...I'll move on. But...I won't be expecting anything from you...I'll try to love again and all...but...Everything's gonna be hard...And I don't want your heart to be broken in two, like mine...Because even if I love you, a bit of my heart will stay with Minwoo..."

"Is it because he's your first?" Dong Wook asked.

Angel nodded. "My first," she answered. "And since he's my first, the scars he'd given me will still remain...And no matter what I do...how much I will fall in love...The first cut will always be the deepest..."

-End Of Flashback-

-Flashback-

'Some people wait a life time for a moment like this,' Angel thought. 'To be kiss, to be love, to be embracing your soul mate...'

A tear dropped down Angel's face. Dong Wook noticed. "Why are you crying?" he asked, teasing her a bit.

"I'm...I'm just so happy!" Angel answered.

"Why?" Dong Wook asked.

"I haven't have so much happiness for a long time," Angel answered.

"Love do touch a person's heart," Dong Wook replied. He brushed away her tears. "Smile for me, okay?"

Angel nodded. "I can't believe this is happening to me!" she exclaimed.

"Why?" Dong Wook laughed.

"This seem all like a dream!" Angel said. "Some people wait a life time...For a moment like this."

Dong Wook smile. "Maybe your moment has come," he said.

"Thanks to you!" Angel said.

Dong Wook leaned closer and kissed her. Angel's heart was fulled of happiness as Dong Wook's kiss touched her heart. She knew she have found the happiness she have always long for.

-End Of Flashback-

Angel smile to herself despite the fact that her friends were all screaming behind her. But to her, those voices were far away, distant. She was lost in her own thoughts.

'The magic of memories...,' she thought to herself, 'it's so priceless...yet so precious...so precious that no one can ever afford to let go of them...not ever.' The wind wail a lonely wail but Angel wasn't lonely; she had her love.

She had her soul mate. And that's all that matters to her only.
