Chapter 9

//Ryhthmn Of The Rain//

Angel sat still as she stared at the rain, falling down. Angel sat there, still and silent, as pretty as a store dummy just sitting down. Dongwan appeared. "Dongseng?" he said.

She turned and stared at him. "Hm?"

"You like Dong Wook?"

"What!?"

"Don't lie to the master!" Dongwan said. "I can see straight through your black eyes!"

"Dongwan, my eye colour is brown," Angel said.

"Well so what!? Goodness!! I have glasses you know!"

Angel sighed. "Whatever! And no, I do not like Dong Wook. He's such a freak!"

"I think he likes you."

"Get a life!"

"How dare you!? I AM living and I DO have a life!!!" Dongwan pretended to sniff. "You're being mean to me!"

Angel laughed. She walked over to Dongwan. "Goodnight!" she said and walked to her bedroom with Dongwan shouting behind her, "You cannot lied to the master!!!" Angel rolled her eyes.

The next day, the rain continued to fall. But it was Saturday so Mr. Kim gave Angel and Dongwan a break from work. Angel put on her dark blue Capri and her gray hoodie, wearing her hood. She went out jogging in the light mist. Angel sighed.

Today was the day in which Minwoo had left her three years ago, it was just at night but it was also rainnig.

Angel pushed the thought back and jogged around the block then jogged towards the nearest park which was two miles away. She jogged there and thanks to the mist, she wasn't nearly quite tired and her sweat was cooling. Angel jogged over to the bridge of the park and saw a figure looking out into the water.

Angel stopped and stared. She took a step closer but the sprinkle of the water also brought along a mist so her vision wasn't quite clear. It was awhile before she realize who it was, Dong Wook! Dong Wook also noticed her.

"Hey!" he said, waving. He walked over to Angel. Angel stood there. "Didn't quite notice you there in that hood." He grinned. Angel say nothing. Slowly, Dong Wook pulled her hood down.

"What are you doing?" Angel asked.

"You look better without your hood," Dong Wook answered.

"No, I mean, what are you doing here?" Angel asked.

"It's a free country!" Dong Wook grinned. Angel narrowed her eyes.

"Aren't you suppose to be at work?"

"I call in sick."

"Why!?"

"Errgh!! Here, I'll show you so you'll quit bugging me." He took her hand and led her off to one side of the bridge. When they got there, Dong Wook pointed to the river below. "See that?"

He pointed to a red flower floating away in the river. Angel stared down, her hair dripping wet. "Yeah...what about it?" she asked.

Dong Wook smile sadly and rest his elbow on the railing. "My girlfriend commited suicide right on this bridge three years ago, in this very spot, on this very day and morning," he explained softly.

"Oh!" Angel breathed. "What happen?"

Dong Wook smile and stared at his hand. "We were getting marry...but her father forbid us. I...I guess I couldn't stand the pain. They were hurting her both emotionally and physically, and unless I didn't leave her, they were just going to throw her to any man to abuse her. I decided to leave her, right on this spot. I told her goodbye and walked off; three days before her death."

Dong Wook looked off into the distant and Angel could clearly see pain in his eyes. "Her wedding came and she ran out of her wedding and commited suicide. I guess...I guess it was all my fault that she had die. I blame myself after her death. No one ever found her body...but...I knew it's in the water still. I always come here for comfort even though I knew that she won't be able to hear me and has already move on...while I can't even when it was my fault on causing her death."

Angel stared at Dong Wook as he tried to keep a normal face. She was silent for a moment and the two could hear the soft pitter patter, the rythmn of the rain. "Oh...okay...," was all Angel said. What else could she say?? Dong Wook smile at Angel.

"You know, it's weird seeing you not at work," he said. "And more strange, you're not yelling at me or threatening to kill me or whatever." Angel stared at Dong Wook, eyes narrowing. But then she smile.

"I don't feel like it," she said. The mist came harder and Angel started walking. "I guess, I should go. Bye!"

"See ya!" Dong Wook answered. Angel turned and put her hood on. She jogged for a while before Dong Wook shouted, "Hey!" Angel turned around. "Don't put your hood on! You look cuter without it!"

Angel smile and Dong Wook did too. Then, Angel took off her hood and jogged off.
