You were sneaking out of the house at 11:30 when your mom caught you. “And where do you think you’re going out, young lady?”
“Um, to meet Jaejoong oppa.” You honestly replied.
“Oh! Well, is he picking you up?”
“No. I’m meeting him at Hankang River.” You said.
“Hmm. Well tell him to drop by later then!” your mom waved.
“I will.” You closed the door and sighed in relief. Then you took a cab to the river.
There were some people there but not too much.
You dodged around and searched for Jaejoong.
You bumped into a boy in a white mask and black beanie. “Sorry.” You meekly smiled and walked away but he grabbed your arm.
You gave him a queer look, “Can I help you?”
“Mmpfme.” His voice was muffled.
“Excuse me?” you asked.
The boy held out something from his neck.
The key locket.
Your eyes widened in recognition, “Jaejoong oppa?”
He nodded.
“Why are you wearing a mask? Are you sick?” you asked, concerned.
Jaejoong shook his head and pointed to the people.
“Ohh. They might recognize you.” You said.
He nodded.
“Okay…” you looked around. “So…”
Jaejoong grabbed your hand and pulled you along. “Hey! Where are we going?!” you yelped.
Jaejoong didn’t reply but just dragged you. You sighed and followed. The two of you went to a secluded area near the waters.
Jaejoong rested his arms on the bridge and stared out.
You followed his gaze. The night scenery was beautiful with colorful lights and the cool wind with the sparkling waters.
“Did you have a good time in Japan?” you asked.
Jaejoong started taking his mask off but stopped when a couple girls passed by.
You looked at them and then at him, “Yeah… you should keep it on for the rest of the night.”
Jaejoong nodded and fixed his mask.
“So thumbs up for yes. Thumbs down for no. Did you have a good time in Japan?” you asked again.
Jaejoong paused then put his thumbs down.
“Why not?” you asked.
Jaejoong pointed to you then shook his head.
“…Because I wasn’t there?” you guessed.
Jaejoong nodded.
“Oh…” you felt your heart warm up and you tried so very hard not to smile. “Do you miss Korea a lot when you’re in Japan?” you asked.
Jaejoong put a thumb up.
“I would be, too. I wouldn’t get to see mom or dad or my friends or eat the Korea food!” you agreed.
Jaejoong shook his head and pointed to you.
“Me what?” you asked.
He fervently pointed to you.
You began to understand.
He missed Korea… because you were in Korea.
“Oh. I get it.” You softly smiled. “Thanks.”
Jaejoong’s eyes twinkled in happiness.
“I like it better when you don’t talk. It’s not as annoying as when you do talk. You’re like a pet! Like a dog! Aha! Like Vic!” You joked.
Jaejoong yanked his mask off, “HEY! I’M NOT SOME LAZY BIG WHITE FURRY ASS DOG! AND I AM NOT ANNOYING!”
Some people looked over.
You quickly covered his face with the mask and squealed, “Oppa! You have to be careful! People are starting to look!”
Jaejoong cleared his throat and just scowled.
You softly smiled. *He’s so cute when he’s mad.* “Okay okay, oppa. I was kidding. You’re not like Vic and you’re not annoying.” You sweetly smiled.
Jaejoong softened.
Suddenly, fireworks burst in the sky. Distracted, everyone looked at the sky including you and Jaejoong.
“Wah~ Soooo beautiful!” you beamed and sighed in content. Jaejoong looked at you.
You looked extremely pretty and cute yourself.
Jaejoong glanced around to make sure no one was looking. Then he pulled his mask off, leaned in, and kissed you on the lips.
Your eyes rounded in surprise but then you quickly closed them and kissed him back. His kisses were amazing and you felt like you were going to fly. Jaejoong smiled through your lips and deepened the kiss. You gladly kissed back.
A minute later, he pulled away.
Jaejoong glanced at his watch: 12:04 a.m.
“Happy New Year, baby.” He affectionately whispered as he dotingly gazed at you.
Your heart fluttered at his new pet name for you: baby. You had always wanted your future boyfriend to call you that. “Happy New Year, oppa.” You whispered back.
Then Jaejoong leaned in and kissed you again. This time, he wrapped his arms around your waist and you wrapped your arms around his neck.
The both of you deeply kissed as more brilliant fireworks popped out in the night sky.
