Chapter 1

an engagement no one knows about

"Mr Jung," a man in a black suit came into the office.

"Please sit down," the young man stood up and gestured to the chair. "And how many times must I tell you, my name is Yunho, Mr Jung was my father's name," he smiled.

"Yunho," the lawyer nodded with a smile.

"Where is the ring?" Yunho asked.

"The ring," the lawyer sighed. "Mrs Kim refused to return it," he responded.

"Refused?" Yunho asked pulling a little forward in shock. "How could she? She has no right to refuse," Yunho told him.

"She plainly said that the ring belonged to her..," the lawyer couldn't even bring himself to finish his sentence.

"To her son?" Yunho asked.

The lawyer nodded cautiously.

"That woman lied to my father 18 years ago. She should be glad that we're not taking legal actions against her!" Yunho pushed back into the chair.

"Do you want me to take legal actions?" the lawyer asked eagerly.

Yunho thought for a few seconds. "Imagine the embarrassment that would bring to my family. My father, my uncle," Yunho shook his head. "The only heir to the Royal Jung family being engaged to another," Yunho took a deep breath, "Man."

"Mr Jung, I mean Yunho, this lady, Mrs Kim straight out refused to return it," the lawyer explained. "I told her that the Jung family sent me and she said she didn't know what I was talking about," he shook his head in shame.

"She's been flaunting that ring to almost everyone in the society, how could she explain how she got a hold of it? 18 years ago she was being evicted from her house, if it wasn't for my father's help she'd probably be working in a factory!" Yunho was on his feet now. "How dare she act as if that ring belongs to her?" Yunho turned to face to the lawyer. "Plus, there weren't any other witnesses to the engagement. The only other person besides Mrs Kim and .....him," Yunho couldn't even bring himself to say his fiance's name. "Is her youngest son, but he was only 3 years old at the time. And even if he remembers, who knows if he'll admit that the engagement took place," Yunho explained.

"I'm very sorry for not being able to complete my job," the lawyer finally lowering his head.

"It's not your fault," Yunho realizing he was on his feet. "You've done great," he sat down once again. "I would like you to help me with another thing," Yunho told the lawyer.

"Anything, I'll do anything for the Jung family," the lawyer answered quickly.

"I need information on everyone in the Kim household," Yunho spoke.

"Yah! Look where you're going!" the tall man got off his motorcycle.

Yunho got out of his car and ran up to the man he just cut off at the corner.

"Couldn't you see me? I was right in front of you!" he yelled to the person getting out of his car.

"I'm really sorry," Yunho bowed his head after reaching the front of his car. "I was lost," Yunho bowed his head again.

"You can be lost but you shouldn't be ignoring the street and other drivers," the tall man finally removed his helmet.

"I'm really sorry. Are you hurt anywhere? I'm responsible for everything," Yunho explained.

"I'm not hurt," the man responded. "But you should really be more careful," he told him.

"I know, I'm deeply sorry," Yunho reached into his pocket. "Here, this is my contact, incase any injury to come up later," Yunho handed his card to him.

"I'm fine, I wasn't hurt," the man responded.

"Please take the card, my name is Yunho," he insisted.

"My name is ChangMin," the man finally accepting the card.

"I'm really sorry, I should of had been paying more attention to the road," Yunho bowed again.

ChangMin feeling that this person made an honest mistake decided to let him off. "It's alright, I'm sure you'll be more careful next time," he said.

"Thank you, thank you so much," Yunho bowed his head again.

"You said you were lost? Maybe I can help you," ChangMin offered.

"Really?" Yunho asked.

"I live around here, if you have an address I could point you to the right place," ChangMin offered.

"That would be great! Hold on, the address is in the car," Yunho ran back to the car and got the little sheet of paper he had wrote the address on. "Here," he handed ChangMin the paper.

ChangMin was shocked to see the address. "Why are you looking for this place?" he asked.

"Oh, I have an antique vase that was cracked and my friend recommended me to go to this shop," Yunho explained. "I've been driving back and forth around here but I haven't seen any shop," Yunho explained.

"You won't find it if you're looking for a shop with a sign," ChangMin explained.

"Oh really?" Yunho asked.

"The owner doesn't work out of a shop, he works out of his privae home," ChangMin explained.

"Oh, really?" Yunho asked again.

"I'll take you to the place, just follow me in your car," ChangMin said and handed the address back to Yunho.

"I don't want to waste your time, if you could point me in the right direction that would be fine," Yunho insisted.

"Just follow me," ChangMin put on his helmet and got on his motorcycle.

Yunho ran to his car and got in.

"Why can't he just tell me he's the owner?" Yunho asked himself. "But, you've really grown up ChangMin," he told himself as he followed the motorcycle.

Yunho had been waiting at the corner the whole day for ChangMin to come home from the university. Once he saw ChangMin he drove his car too close and ran ChangMin towards the sidewalk. It was something he had planned. Yunho was dressed casual, shorts, t-shirt, and a black rimmed glasses. He wanted to look friendly and approachable.

They finally pulled up in front of a gate. Yunho parked his car and got out.

"The shop is here?" Yunho asked playing stupid.

"This is where the person works," ChangMin answered. "Where is the vase?" he asked.

"It's in the backseat," Yunho answered. "Where is the person? I want to talk to the person who'll be working on the vase, cause that vase is very important to me," Yunho explained in a serious tone.

"You're looking at him," ChangMin went to the car door and opened it.

"You're the person I was looking for?" Yunho asked trying to look surprised.

"Yes, I'm the one you're looking for. And that is my shop," he pointed to the guest house on the other side of the swimming pool.

"You're the one?" Yunho still trying to look shocked.

"It's in this box?" ChangMin asked.

"Yes," Yunho nodded.

ChangMin picked up the box and headed towards the gate. "Come on, open the door for me," ChangMin called.

Yunho ran up to the gate and opened the door next to it. He then followed ChangMin up the walkway towards the guest house. Right when they were close to the house a car bolted out of the garage.

It roared as it drove right in front of ChangMin.

"Get out of the way!" the driver stuck his head out to scream as he hit the brakes.

"Where are you going in such a hurry?" ChangMin screamed back.

"It's non of your business! Get out of my way!" he screamed again.

"Yah! You should stop for people who are walking!" ChangMin screamed.

"This is a driveway, you should be looking out for cars!" he screamed then honked.

ChangMin finally stepped backwards to let the car pass.

"And why are you always bringing strangers into the house?" the guy asked as he looked over to Yunho.

"He's not a stranger, he's my customer," ChangMin explained.

"Customer or not, you don't know them. You better make sure to not bring home just anyone. If anything goes missing from the house, mom's going to kill you!" he rolled up his window and took off.

ChangMin and Yunho stood looking after the back of the car as it sped off onto the street.

"Sorry about that," ChangMin looked over to Yunho. "That was my brother," ChangMin explained.

"No problem," Yunho explained.

"Come on, follow me," ChangMin started walking again.

Yunho turned his head towards the gate once again. "JaeJoong," he mouthed. "You'll get to meet me soon," he told himself.

ChangMin opened the door to his place and carried the box in. Yunho slowly followed in, he stood in amazement at the sight. The were odd objects hanging on the wall everywhere, a big table in the middle of the room and tons of antique objects, at the farthest end of the room was a little kitchen and right above the kitchen was a little loft with his bed.

"Sorry for the mess," ChangMin was already going thru the broken pieces of the vase.

"Oh no, it's alright," Yunho finally walking up to ChangMin. "It's very interesting," he said looking at all the stuff around the room.

"The stuff on the floor and on the walls are things I found and fixed up, but the ones on the table are the items customers bring me to fix," he explained. "Feel free to look around," he told Yunho.

"Can you fix my vase?" Yunho finally asked.

"I think it's possible, but I it'll take some time," ChangMin explained.

"But it's fixable right?" Yunho asked.

"Of course, everything in this world is fixable," ChangMin explained. He then went to grab a clipboard. "Here, fill this out," he told Yunho.

Yunho took the clipboard. "You can take as long as you want, as long as it is fixed," Yunho told him.

"I have a couple of items before yours, but I should be able to get started on your piece next week," he explained.

"No problem," Yunho answered and started to fill out the paper.

Yunho thanked ChangMin and said his goodbye. As he walked out to the driveway he was reminded of the person that nearly hit them earlier. He looked to the bigger house next to the pool. "The ring is only in that house and yet I can't even retrieve it," he told himself. Yunho went back to his car and started his car. "And now, it's time to meet JaeJoong," he looked at himself in the mirror and removed the black rimmed glasses.

"A shot for everyone!" JaeJoong shouted to his friends who were sitting around the table.

"Wooooo!" everyone shouted back.

"No one leaves sober!" JaeJoong shouted again.

"Yeah, NO ONE!" YooChun stood up and pointed to everyone.

"What are you guys talking about? We're already drunk!" JunSu called from the other end of the table.

"Yah, this is my 23rd birthday! No one leaves without being dead drunk!" JaeJoong called out.

"Wooooo!" all the other friends shouted.

"Waitress! More drinks!" JaeJoong shouted.

The waitress ran to the bar and ordered more drinks.

"Here," she came running back with a tray of beverages.

"I didn't order this," JaeJoong told her. "I ordered shots for everyone," he yelled.

"I know sir, the shots are what you ordered, but the man over there sent you this," she pointed to the man at the bar.

JaeJoong looked over and saw a man sitting at the bar raising his glass towards him.

"What does he want?" JaeJoong asked the waitress.

"I don't know sir, he just said he heard you say it was your birthday so he said to bring you this," she answered.

JaeJoong looked over to the man again and figured he was good looking enough to buy him the drink. He smiled towards the man and grabbed his drink and took a sip.

After a few hours everyone was passed out either in their seats or under the table.

"Sir," the waitress tapped on JaeJoong's shoulder. "Sir, we're closing in a few minutes," she said.

"Huh?" JaeJoong pulled himself up from the table. "You're already closing?" he asked.

"Sir, it's 3am already," she told him. "We're closing down," she told him.

"Alright," JaeJoong shook his head to wake up. "Everyone, time to go!" he called.

"Sir, your bill," the waitress said to JaeJoong.

"Oh, the bill," JaeJoong pulled his wallet out and handed a credit card to the waitress.

"Thank you, I'll be right back," she ran over to the bar to take care of the bill.

The man who had bought JaeJoong the drink was still sitting at the bar. Watching JaeJoong.

"Sir," the waitress came back to JaeJoong.

"Everyone, time to go!" he called again.

"Sir, the credit card didn't go thru," she explained.

"Huh?" JaeJoong asked still on comprehending half of the information.

"Your credit card didn't approve," she explained.

"How could it not approve? Is your machine working?" he shouted.

"Sir, I even called to double check and it said the amount exceeded your limit," she explained.

"What? I don't believe you!" JaeJoong shouted. "Get me your manager!" he got up but fell back into his seat again.

"Is there a problem?" a voice came up behind the waitress.

JaeJoong and the waitress both looked over to the man standing in a black suit.

"Nothing, their machine is not working so they can't charge my card. So she's saying I'm over my limit!" JaeJoong still shouting.

"I can assure you our machine is working properly, sir. His card went thru fine," the waitress explained.

"How about this," the man reached into his pocket and got his wallet out. "Just put it on my card," he handed her his black credit card.

The waitress looked up at the man and then bowed. "Thank you," she said as she took his card and went back to the bar.

"You didn't have to do that," JaeJoong pulled himself up again. "I could of had just called my mom to come take care of it," he lost balance and fell forward.

"Becareful," the man grabbed JaeJoong around the waist with his left hand and held him up. "You're pretty drunk," he explained.

"I'm not drunk! Kim JaeJoong never gets drunk!" JaeJoong pointed out.

"It's nice to meet you," The man answered. "My name is Han Yunho," he introduced.
