“Where’s all this money from?” Raymond questioned.
“Remember 2 years ago, you bought that house by the beach and you put it in my name.” Raymond nodded, “I sold it.”
“I couldn’t take this from you Yee. I gave you that house as a birthday present. Plus, you’ve just opened up a company of your own; you’ll need some money on hand too.” Raymond tried to thrust the check back into Myolie’s hand.
Myolie pushed it back towards Raymond, “I still have enough money for ‘Sum Yee’. The house was yours to begin with; I’m only doing a favor by returning it. It belongs to you and you need this money more than I do.”
“Yee, I couldn’t possible accept this”
“I know it’s because you won’t sell the house, otherwise you’d have enough.”
“I could never sell it. It’s the one place that belongs to us. I treasure it because it is the only thing I have left to remind me of you now that you are no longer by my side.”
“Raymond, you know you have other options. There are others out there that are better than me.”
“But I’ll only love you.”
“Raymond, you should move on. What about Leila?”
“I don’t understand what you mean Yee, what about Leila?” Raymond asked with much confusion in his voice.
“She likes you, haven’t you noticed?” Myolie stated the obvious.
“Even if she does, it doesn’t mean that I like her. I’ve been appreciative of all her support and help all these years, and especially lately. But I only treat her like a good friend, a younger sister, nothing else.”
Unfortunately for Leila who was standing outside the door, heard everything. She rushed home and locked herself in her bedroom, where she cried silently to herself.
She opened up her closet and pulled out a large box. The contents in the box were all the things that Raymond had given to her. Some of the things were what others may consider trash, but to her these were things that money could never buy. She pulled each item out slowly to examine them. A majority were birthday cards or Christmas cards. Some were notes which they had passed in class during their elementary school days.
Leila dried up her tears, today she finally realized that she should move on. She’d been silly all these years, keeping that small bit of hope that one day Raymond would notice her and develop feelings for her. But it was obvious, Raymond would only love Myolie. Even if they would never be together again, he would not accept another woman in his heart.
She picked up the box and placed it in the trash can. “From today forward will be a new start in my life. No more silly dreams. I have someone else more worthy of my love.” Leila smiled brightly as she picked up the photo of her with Ray. “Wing Nim, I’m really sorry, but from now on I know what to do.”
Leila set the photo back down on her nightstand and picked up the phone, “Wing Nim? Are you busy tonight?”
“No, I was just about to leave the firm and head home.”
“Great, let’s have dinner together tonight.”
“Sounds like a great idea. I’ll come pick you up.” Leila responded with a simple okay, “Okay, I’ll see you soon.” And before he hung up he added, “Oh, and I’ve missed you Ling.” Already she felt sweet in her heart thinking of her future with Wing Nim.

“Raymond, I’m with Bosco now.”
“Myolie, I’m…” Raymond became speechless by Myolie sudden outburst. How was he supposed to react? “I’m happy for you.”
“Thanks Raymond.” Myolie give him a friendly hug. “I wanted to let you know that I’ve moved on, and I hope you will too soon.”
‘This was it, our relationship has finally come to an official end.’ The message hit Raymond hard like a punch in the stomach. ‘He’ll never hear Fung and Yee together again.’
“I wish you happiness always from the bottom of my heart.”

The deals were sealed and everything had been set in the formation of Raymond’s new company.
“Thanks for the help Lei. You know you’ll be the GM of the company.” Raymond teased as he gathered all the files from the table.
“Thanks for the offer Raymond, but I’ll have to decline.”
“Why?” Both Myolie and Raymond questioned.
Leila shrugged her shoulders, “Wing Nim got a job offer where he’ll be flying back and forth between Hong Kong and Shanghai. I just wanted to be there for him and to help take care of him.”
“But that doesn’t mean you have to quit does it. You can still work. I know you love your job.” Raymond tried to convince.
Leila gave both of them a weak smile, “I’ve been working too hard over the years, and it’s about time I get some rest. I haven’t been the best girlfriend all these years; I want to make it up to Wing Nim.”
“I understand Leila, you deserve the break. But if you ever change your mind, the door to my company will always be open to welcome you back.”
“Thanks Raymond, I’ll keep that in mind. Anyways I have to go, I’m meeting Wing Nim to go to the movies.”
Myolie and Raymond both waved goodbye to Leila, “See ya.”
Both Myolie and Raymond smiled seeing how happy Leila was now.
