Chapter 19

Her First Everything

Chapter Eighteen: Her First Everything

Ayumi and Aaron sat on the couch in Aaron's living room, eating the usual spaghetti. The lights were turned off with only the few flickering candles to add to the scary movie they were watching. This was how they spent most of their nights together--random and awfully pointless. It was one of their guilty deeds. While they overloaded co-workers with paperwork, they spent a carefree night watching movies.

The loud scary music began playing; causing both hearts to pound in fear, but neither of them closed their eyes because that would be like admitting defeat. Just as Ayumi sensed the ghost was to appear, she turned to Aaron.

"Say, 'ahhh'," Ayumi instructed as she rolled a string of spaghetti around her fork. Aaron did as said, also trying to avoid the ghost scene. Before it could make it into his mouth, Ayumi flung the sauce onto his nose.

"Ayumi!" Aaron pouted. She laughed and pointed.

"You look like Rudolf now! Hahah," Aaron got up from his seat on the couch and went into the kitchen to wash his face. Ayumi followed him, eager to leave the scary movie.

She didn't understand whose idea it was to watch that movie but it was clear that both of them didn't want to watch it. Just then, the lights went out.

"Aaron! Where are you?"

There was no answer.

Sweet Love

-

He winked at her playfully.

There was a pause between everyone in the room. Or at least, Jaejoong felt it. He didn't know about Qiao En, but it was more than obvious that Hebe and Danson had some history...or maybe it was because she was clenching his shirt.

"Do...you guys know each other?" Qiao En questioned, looking from her boyfriend's expression to Hebe's.

Danson smirked. "Oh, just an underclassman from a long, long time ago and it never crossed my mind that I'd be meeting you again. What an honor it is to see you, Hebe Tian."

"Oh, well isn't that nice? It's like a school reunion, kind of!"

"Yeah, I suppose." Hebe mumbled.

Their orders came and they ate happily, but Jaejoong's shirt was still a captive of Hebe's balled up fist.

"So, are you guys dating?" Danson asked, staring straight at Hebe. She stayed quiet, finally letting go of Jaejoong.

"No," She answered him after a second. "How about you guys? Are you doing fine?" Her voice came out softer than she had wanted it to be. She didn't like this at all. But for some reason, she wanted, or needed to prove to Danson that she was happy. That she had never been happier in her life...after leaving him.

-

Flash back: 7 Years Ago

-

Hebe held Danson's hand tightly in hers. It seemed like time had stopped and just at the right place too. Danson Tang cupped her cheeks in his hands and stared into her eyes. She seemed to drown in his intoxicating brown eyes and as if it weren't enough he bent down and kissed her, causing her to die of happiness.

"I love you," Hebe whispered with all the love her sweet, innocent heart could give.

They began kissing, and passionately too. Before she could even make out what she was really getting herself into, he was taking her to "heaven".

Hebe lay in Danson's arms, waiting for him to say those three special words, like all those movie-like scenarios she had put all her passion into dreaming about. But instead, he got up and redressed himself.

"Thanks for the loving, sweetie." Danson smirked as he button up his shirt.

"Wait, Danson. What are you doing?" Hebe asked, shocked as her dreams were being destroyed right before her eyes. Danson shook his head, pitying the girl.

"You're too gullible for your own good, Hebe, but I guess for me, that was a good thing. I had a great time by the way!" Danson reached for the door and just as he was about to leave, he added, "Also, don't talk to me at school anymore."

-

Present Time

-

The four sat at the bright pink table, their meals finished and their stomachs bloated. Everyone seemed relaxed, that is, except for Hebe.

"Oh look at the time!" Qiao En exclaimed in surprise when she checked her watch. "It's time for our movie."

Qiao En and Danson got up together. Danson gestured to the other two.

"Would you like to join us as well?"

Jaejoong shook his head, but to his surprise, Hebe got up, forcing him up too and locked arms with him. She held Jaejoong's hand in hers only letting him realize that she was trembling right now.

"You know what, Danson; we would love to join you guys, if you wouldn't mind of course."

"Why, of course not, right, Qiao En?" Danson turned to her, intertwining his hands with hers.

Qiao En nodded. "Of course not, we would love it if you joined us."

"Great, then we'll come along." Hebe smiled, but the anger in her was clear to Jaejoong.

"Fine,"

"Fine!" Hebe said and led the way. "Come on Jaejoong,"

It was the anger, and Danson, that made Jaejoong stay. He was being used. He knew it too well to deny it, but he stayed anyways. Why?

He didn't know himself, but whatever it was, Hebe was still shaking beside him, and he couldn't walk away just like that. Hebe needed him.

-

4:23 PM

-

"BOOO!"

"Ahhh! God, Aaron, don't scare me like that!" Ayumi half held, half slapped him on the shoulder. "Go open the lights. You know I have night blindness!"

"You don't need the lights. Come on, let's go watch the movie." Aaron took Ayumi's hand in his and led her back to the couch. Then he added, "Besides, turning on that light wastes electricity."

"Cheep bum." Ayumi pouted. She huddled herself back into the blankets, not touching her plate of food. She had lost her appetite. Aaron tugged the blanket from her and wrapped it around himself.

"Aaron! That's mine."

"No, it's mine. It's in my house." Aaron stuck his tongue out.

Ayumi tugged at the blanket even harder. "But I found it first!"

After minutes of tug-a-war, the two finally settled in sharing it. Aaron could feel Ayumi's smooth legs brush softly against his. His face turned red. It was obvious that Aaron was paying no attention whatsoever to the movie. All his mind could comprehend at the moment was Ayumi's arms wrapped around his body.

"Aack! He's going to kill her. He's going to kill her. Watch out!" Ayumi shouted at the screen while still cuddling into Aaron for protection from the ghost's face.

"Oh my god." She gasped as the girl was killed. And then, the intense moment in the movie disappeared. Oh but in the reality world, awkward moments came in abundance...unfortunately.

Cinema Theater

-

Anger. Revenge. Fury. Rage. Resentment. Annoyance. Melancholy. Sadness. Grief.

Everything overwhelmed her all at once. She remembered sitting in the movie theater and holding his hand, sharing her first indirect kiss, and giving him her first kiss here—Danson Tang; her first everything. The worst part was that she was even sitting next to him while Qiao En and Jaejoong were sitting on the outer chairs. But Hebe was a stubborn girl and she refused to take Danson’s smirks and put-downs.

The movie went on and soon Hebe’s arm grew weary, but Danson, knowing her movie habits, had already stolen her arm rest. For a few minutes she twiddled with her fingers but finally, her eyes trailed along Jaejoong’s arm. He wouldn’t mind…right?

-

Jaejoong wasn’t at all paying attention to the screen. His mind had wandered off to the trembling Hebe. But as his thoughts were going nowhere since he knew just about nothing of this Danson guy, he soon grew to thinking of his memories with Hebe. The little knowledge that he knew of her life seemed so overwhelming now.

She knew so much about him and always cared for his mother even though he never asked her to. She knew his favorite color right down to his favorite pedal on the picture frame he made for her. And yet, he was clueless as to her past, her family, and her ex-partners. This only made him think of what kind of a couple they were. Was this why they broke up? Even if Hebe hadn’t cut the rope so abruptly, with time, they would have departed their own ways anyways?

Jaejoong thought it over, and he couldn’t seem to come up with something that would counter what he was thinking. And to think, he was going to propose to her! That made Jaejoong think even more. Perhaps, if he had called just a minute earlier that day, Hebe would be in a garden of flowers in a wedding gown, instead of fearing him every time they passed each other.

Before he could think up any more bad things, Hebe’s hand slowly touched his and intertwined with his fingers. Her whole body swayed away from Danson and finally, hesitantly, her head rested onto his shoulders. It was like a flash back to the older days, and he liked it.

A smile crept onto his face when he realized…

Hebe wasn’t shaking.

-

Hebe smiled when Jaejoong’s hand didn’t jerk away like how she was expecting it to. She stared at their hands together and realized even more to her disliking how much of the biggest mistake she made by letting him go. She really wished these were the last hands she would hold, but she knew they wouldn’t be. After all, she was the one that let them go. How can she just expect to get them back?

Besides, she didn’t want to hurt Jaejoong any further than what she’s already done. The guy, this great guy, deserves a better girl.

To their reluctance, the movie ended and the two were faced once again with cruel reality.

-

Aaron’s House

-

Ayumi’s face blushed red. It’s been over minutes and none of them had muttered a thing. Both their legs and arms were entangled and Ayumi took no step in untangling them. It wasn’t every day that Aaron was this playful. Usually he’d just stick to a night without much physical contact but lately he’s been saying and acting weirdly. But if she were to say something, she was afraid that he’d stop being like this. Frankly, she’d rather take this opportunity to remember the feel of Aaron’s skin on hers than ruining everything.

It was not the better choice in the long-run, but for now, Ayumi didn't want anything else but to have Aaron sitting right next to her. Right now, everything was perfect.

"Ayumi?"

"Yeah?"

"The movie is over."

They both jumped away from each other, trying to play everything naturally.

"Ha, it wasn't that scary!" Ayumi exclaimed, trying to lighten up the silence that had rested upon them. He gave her a light punch in the arm.

"Stop kidding yourself. You were scared as heck." Aaron laughed. "You wouldn't let go of me for the entire way through!"

"No..." Ayumi denied, although it was an awfully weak denial.

The two became silent.

-

7:32 PM

-

Hebe walked out of the girls' restroom when she was blocked by Danson. She stared at him. They were supposed to wait for her at the driveway! She walked to her left and he followed so she went to her right. He did the same.

"Okay, Danson. Thanks for inviting us the movies. I had a fun time, but please stop it with this game of yours?" Hebe told him off.

"Wow Bebe, no need to be all angry, just because I stole your virginity and all."

"Danson!" Hebe shouted, not believing he would say such explicit things in public. Was he simply just out to get her?

"Or is it that you still have feelings for me?" Danson went on, ignoring her. "No need to be all b*tchy with it, Bebe. Just because I took your everything, but it still seems you're still wh*ring around other guys."

"Danson, just leave!" Hebe murmured weakly as she tried to push him away. She was trembling again and tears were threatening her eyes.

"Hey Bebe, I left you a long time ago. I guess I'll go get my girlfriend." Danson waved with a smirk on his face. "I had a great time by the way!"

"Stop saying Bebe!" Hebe yelled with all her might, but Danson had already gone. That's when Jaejoong appeared.

"I have a taxi out waiting for us now." Jaejoong said but then he saw Hebe. "Hey, are you okay?" Hebe nodded her head and followed behind him. They entered the taxi and all she could think of was that stupid Danson.

"Hebe, are you really okay?" Jaejoong asked again, concern written all over his face.

'...I had a great time by the way...'

And she broke out crying.
