It was a snowy December evening in Pridel, Brimston, the time Mamoji's head was preoccupied with explanations to tell her parents about her desire to be a teacher. Yet she told them something else. She said that she wanted to live in another country to learn more about adult-hood all by herself.
Mr. and Mrs. Mizumi's reply? It was a "Sure." Since Mamoji's childhood, they didn't mind her being alone. They thought she was going to be okay since she had already proved that she was a responsible girl.
Mamoji was ecstatic! Her parents didn't even bother asking about her plans. She ran to a computer and searched for a good country to live in. Then, she searched for a cheap but a good apartment. Finally, she searched for the plane flight time to the country she chose. And at the country she chose, they spoke the same language so it made her even happier.
It was day for Mamoji to leave. Mr. and Mrs. Mizumi provided her money, then she left to Weimu, Tanawabi. The flight took fifteen hours. When the plane landed, Mamoji went straight to the apartment she was going to live in. There, she saw a gardener, who was actually the apartment's caretaker. Then the caretaker helped her carry her stuff to her new home. She wanted to pay the him, but her money was different. She had to go to the bank to change them to Tanawabi's currency. By the time she got back, the caretaker had already left a note on her door saying, "You don't have to pay me." Mamoji took the note and stuck it on her diary. After the long day of excitement, she felt tired and laid back on a sleeping bag until she finally fell asleep.
The next day, there was a knock on Mamoji's door which made her wake up. Opening it, she saw a lady with a big smile saying, "Welcome!". She introduced herself, telling Mamoji that she was the owner of the apartment. From that day on, the two became friends. Mamoji told the lady, Katherine, about her plan to impose as a teacher. Katherine gladly volunteered to help her. And so, she made her look like a thirty-five year old woman.
A day after Mamoji met Katherine, she saw a poster just outside the apartment. It said that a school named Shiratori was in need of a teacher, so she thought that was perfect. She suddenly saw a group of students wearing black uniforms. Not only did the boys wore a tie, but also the girls. The girls wore short checkered skirts and a long sleeved polo. Mamoji got curious and walked up to them. She asked which school they were from and one replied that they were from Shiratori, then they left.
