No one stirred. Jay reached out for his pants pocket. His hand touched the smooth surface of the velvet box. Clutching it tightly, he closed his eyes, remembering the decision he had made earlier that day. He will tell her everything, and as a token of honesty, he will give it to her. Jay was sure she would like it, because the gift was from him.
Jay opened his eyes again, this time concentrating onto the girl on the stage. The calm and serene image of her was simply breathless. It seemed to Jay that a purifying glow radiated from within her, brightening his life. Although wearing just a simple black gown, she was stunningly beautiful. At least to him. Jay couldn’t remember a single time when he wouldn’t be thinking of her. His face grew expressionless, as a nagging thought evaded his mind. What happens when she is gone? Am I right by wanting to hold her till the end of her life?
He shook his head, mentally scolding himself for not remaining true to his decision. The end will not be far, as in her case. And Jay wanted to be there for her, especially now since her days are numbered. So what if she may not accept him? All Jay knew was, he HAVE to tell her how he feel, how he wanted so much to just look at her. He realized that if she slipped away from his grasp without him telling her how much he loved her, he would never forgive himself. Ever.
Jay was brought back gently to reality as a soothing music filled the air. The audience relaxed. The girl had started to play. Soft and flowing, the music calmed Jay. He allowed himself to drown in the depths of this haunting melody, drifting back into the past… the day when he first met her…
