Fan Fiction |

I will try to keep this as formal as possible, mainly because this is my final post-up in ‘Wordless Language – Music’. But knowing myself, it is inevitable that this smiley ^_^ will pop up now and then. ^_^
This is my first completed story. Ironically, this is my second fan fiction in Winglin; the first being ‘Dreams and Reality’. Perhaps it is because this is much shorter in length compared to D&R, and also that I’ve written the full story before posting it up, that this story is completed much faster. To all those who have been following D&R, I give my sincerest apologies for not updating quick enough. ^_^
I would like to thank all those wonderful people out there who took their time to read all my updates and actually comment on them. I really, really appreciate it. Thank you. And as for those silent readers, I’m glad you’re reading too.
Now, how do I go on from here? Perhaps I should start with my opinions on the characters. Shall I?
I’m very glad to have people telling me that my characters are very realistic, because those characters are just a figment of my overflowing imagination. And the fact that my life is blissfully ignorant of the harmful grasp of death makes it harder to portray the heart-wrenching situation where one dies.
In my humble opinion, Jay Chou is a boy who is very much comfortable living in his own silent world. Maybe that is a little contradictory, because in Jay’s world, even though it is ‘silent’ in a way, music remains a very domineering factor in his life. And it is through music that our two characters came to meet, and eventually love, each other. His parents’ death when he was but five left a void in him, and he was afraid to reach out and love others, for fear that he might get hurt again. Perhaps some of you might think of it as silly, or even cowardly, but then again, try to view life through Jay’s eyes, and you might just understand why he refused to commit himself in a relationship.
As for Suzz, this character is purely something that is conjured up by my mind. Once, a person asked me who is Suzz Taylor, because that name have appeared in D&R, WLM and JuLia’s ‘Inside’. I told him/her to pose that question to Jul, and I think Jul’s description of Suzz is perfect: “Suzz Taylor is a fictitious character, but she reflects a real person I know.” Yes, Suzz may be someone who only exists in the literary world, but the impression of her varies in the readers. And as for people who wonder whether the Suzz in this story is actually me in real life (we both share the same name ^_^), well, it does not matter much, does it?
As I do not know how is it like to die (anyone had a near-death experience here?), I simply made it that life is like a journey in a dark, long tunnel. Each turn you choose, each decision you make… all of those choices affect your journey more or less. The part where Suzz ‘saw’ a tunnel opened up before her is merely a more graphic explanation of what one sees when one dies.
Some of you might ponder the mysterious ‘she’ in the last chapter. I will not give a definite answer who she is, simply because I myself do not know. She might be a spirit, or an angel, or perhaps, in a more common term, a ghost of the past. I will leave it to you readers to interpret that ethereal presence as what you would like to believe she is. I will also leave the question whether the girl Jay ‘saw’ is something real or something he had imagined out of loneliness, unanswered.
I apologize if the first few chapters were quite difficult to read, mainly because of the absence of quotation marks to differentiate thoughts from dialogues. But if you observe carefully, you would then realize that as the story draws to its end, more quotation marks appear. This actually represents that Jay, being the withdrawn, reserved guy he was, is finally communicating with the outside world.
The song ‘Silence’ is actually up to you readers to imagine what it sounds like. It may or may NOT be Jay’s ‘Silence’; the choice to believe it is or not lies with you.
I would like to keep this short, so last but not least, I want to dedicate this story to the wonderful people who supported me throughout the story :-
Ayumi – Thank you so much for being such a wonderful listener and reader. Your posters are one of the best in Winglin! ^_^ And oh, thank you also for giving me the inspiration to write that little phrase at the end of Chapter 13. ^_^
JuLia – Though it would be most unlikely that you will read this (that is, unless I tell you to, of course), I’ll really like to say a big THANK YOU for everything. From supporting me in D&R and WLM, to putting Suzz and Jay together in your latest story ‘Inside’, you've been the best-est friend one can ever have. ^_^
Caryn and Cherian – Thank you both for being the best jies in the whole world! ^_^
Red * Angel – Thank you for being so supportive and all! Love ya. ^_^
CherryDiamond – Yes, you deserve the title ‘biggest fan’ and ‘most loyal reader’. ^_^ Reading your messages in the comment board never fail to put a smile on my face. Thank you!
Tarogal – Together with Zoe you guys are the funniest pair of friends I’ve ever met! Thank you so much for your cute and undoubtedly funny comment! ^_^ Love ya!
CheRRy – Thank you once again for being such a wonderful reader! You’re the best!
