by Miss Ahn
He walked around and lowered his hat, making sure that no crazy fangirls tried to go for him and attack him down. He wasn't a very famous singer yet, but many somehow can recognize him through his connections with girls. At the moment, the only girl he wanted to see was Yoobin.
As he walked around the area he spotted a girl who was all alone and was about to walk up to her but remembered his mission to find Yoobin. Just as he almost passed her, he heard her sniffle. He waled backwards and took a closer look at the girl. It was Yoobin.
"Yoobin-ah?! Why are you all alone? And why are --" he started to ask when she looked up at him. She didn't look so good. 'Aish, where'd TOP go? How could he leave her here?' he said to himself. But the more important question was why did Yoobin look so... sad? Just as he was about to ask he felt a vibration from his pocket and opened his cell phone to see TOP's called ID. He flipped it open and suddenly started yelling.
"YAH! Where are you? And why did you leave Yoo--" Taeyang suddenly stopped when TOP mentioned Hyori's name over the phone. "What? But..." Taeyang looked over at Yoobin who seemed to be very different. "Whatever," Taeyang said over the phone and closed it. He stuffed it back into his pocket and sat right beside Yoobin. There was no need for questions. Yoobin wasn't crying or anything, but Taeyang could feel the sad aura surrounding her. It couldn't have meant something but after what TOP had said, it was obvious.
"Let's go home," he said gently and Yoobin nodded her head and tried to smile at him but it was easy to tell that it was forced.
'Yoobin-ah...' Taeyang thought as he watched Yoobin's somewhat hurt expression.
--- --- ---
Taeyang slowly walked home as he took advantage of Yoobin's sudden mood change. His hands were holding tightly on her shoulders and her usual reaction would be to shove it off and walk a huge distance away, but this time she was sticking very close to him.
"Yoobin, where do you live?" Taeyang said when he realized that they've been walking for almost forever. Yoobin stopped and Taeyang turned down to look at her.
"Taeyang... sorry if I ruined this date. I guess I owe you one," she said and tried her best to give him a real smile but Taeyang could see different beneath it. He smiled anyway at what Yoobin's promise was.
"Another promise," Taeyang said with a smile and held her tighter. Yoobin still wasn't completely herself since she let that go. "Then maybe next time... you could choose where to go."
Yoobin nodded. "Yeah maybe go swim--" she said when she remembered what TOP said. Yoobin's mind gave a flashback of TOP saying, "Don't know what kind of guy in their right mind would want to date you!" She shook her head to keep the thought out. "We'll see on the day."
Taeyang smiled as he nodded, smiling happily. "You can drop me off at that corner, my house isn't that far. I don't want to keep you for this long," she said and Taeyang shook his head.
"It doesn't matter as long as it's for you," he said. Yoobin gave a confused look and rolled her eyes. She felt a bit better although she didn't know why her mood changed all of a sudden. They reached the corner and Taeyang waited for Yoobin.
"What?" Yoobin asked as she turned back to see Taeyang staring at her.
"Nothing. I was just expecting a hug, that's all," he said jokingly and to his surprise, Yoobin walked up to him and gave him a warm hug. Yoobin stepped back and looked at Taeyang's shocked expression. She giggled at this side of Taeyang since she thought he was always cool around girls. "Oh, Yoobin. I forgot to tell you today, but you look very cute. I bet even TOP thought the same."
"Thanks for today." Yoobin smiled a real pretty smile and started to head back to her house and Taeyang did the same with a huge grin on his face. He won't forget this day and neither will Yoobin.
Yoobin went straight to her room and took her phone and started to dial Sunye's number.
"What do you mean you're not coming tomorrow?!" Sunye exclaimed when she heard after Yoobin's news. "It doesn't mean you're exhausted right now, you'll be tired tomorrow! You'll be fine!"
"No," Yoobin said over the phone as she rubbed her forehead in stress. She was thinking off too much things at once. "Can't we do this some other time? I just need a day off tomorrow."
"Yah, who said they wanted to record so badly? It's not just me, you were more excited than I was!" Sunye said. She sighed and sat back on her sofa. "Yoobin, what happened today?"
"Nothing..." Yoobin said. 'That's right... nothing happened at all,' she thought. "I got it, I'll go tomorrow, okay?"
"Thank you!" Sunye said excitedly. "Remember, this recording is important!"
Yoobin turned off her phone and sat down on her bed. "Am I crazy?! Aish," Yoobin said and scratched her head. Her hair quickly became messy and Sunye's dress didn't seem to match at all with her. "Yoobin-ah... find another dream guy. Anything but a stupid rapper."
--- --- ---
"We're here!" Sunye exclaimed in a bright mood as she and Yoobin walked inside the recording room. "Ah, good morning~ B4B!"
"Good morning," they said tiredly. Sunye seemed to wake up extra early today which was surprising for her case. She would usually sleep in but considering she was going to become a star soon, she should get used to it. Yoobin walked in right behind her and shied away from them, not saying a single word since she came.
"Yoobin, how was the date yesterday?" Seung Ri asked curiously. "Come on, I want to know the details!"
"Seung Ri, you're too much of a gossip guy. Go hang out with your hyungs," Yoobin said with no feeling. She didn't even feel annoyed. Seung Ri walked back slowly, feeling a bit rejected from Yoobin. Yoobin watched him and spotted TOP's eyes on her. She looked away in an instant and hid herself from them. But it didn't stop TOP from walking towards her.
"How WAS the date?" TOP asked but Yoobin ignored him. She didn't feel like talking to a ditcher. But her "conscience" just wouldn't let her go. "Good," she replied without looking at him.
"Oh yeah, sorry for leaving you alone... I just couldn't --"
"Yeah, I got it. You just couldn't leave Hyori alone," Yoobin almost said with an angry tone but was able to hide it. Why was she angry anyway?
"It seems her boyfriend just cheated on --"
"TOP, do I even care? Why are you giving me excuses. It's no big deal, you were just helping your ex-girlfriend." With that, Yoobin got into her place right beside Sunye who was talking with Dae Sung and Seung Ri.
Sunye looked over at the front where the producer came in and waved. He greeted them and started to talk about the recording procedures. With a nod, the music started to play and Sunye started to sing the first lines. The beginning started with a good flow. The chorus began and soon it was Seung Ri, Sunye and Jiyong again and back again at the chorus. After the chorus it was the rap part, and that's where it went downhill. Yoobin messed up many times and after repeating it over again, the producer decided that there weren't any feelings in between.
"I think today's not your day, Yoobin," he said to her. "Take a break. I don't think you can finish recording today."
B4B sighed and their before cheerful faces faded to disappointment. They were really expecting themselves to finish it all today and start with the choreography or a new song. It wasn't just Yoobin who seemed to be out of it but also TOP.
"Did something happen yesterday, hyung?" Seung Ri asked TOP as soon as SUNNY wasn't in the room anymore. "Hyung!"
"Oh, what?" TOP asked, oblivious to Seung Ri's question.
"I said, did something happen yesterday? Both you and Yoobin aren't looking too good," Seung Ri said a bit annoyed. TOP shook his head.
"I was just thinking..."
"About what?" Jiyong asked, also concerned for TOP.
"About Hyori."
"Hyori-noona?" Dae Sung exclaimed, not expecting to hear her name come out of TOP's voice again. "What happened?"
"It seems she got a boyfriend." TOP looked away for a second as the rest of the members anticipated for him to continue. "And she got cheated on."
"Oh," they all said. 'No wonder,' they all thought.
"Hyung... do you still like her?" Dae Sung hesitated to ask but let it out for the sake of TOP. He was quiet for a while.
"I don't know, honestly. It's hard to forget about her. I've liked her for so long and when we're finally together, I blew it some time ago by kissing the wrong person. And now she gets her heart broken again." TOP shook his head, obvious that he was confused with his own feelings. "But then... there's something that's stopping me from being with her. I can't get it out, though."
--- --- ---
"Yoobin-ah, you don't look too good. Maybe you shouldn't have come after all," said Sunye, concerned for her spaced out friend.
"I'm sorry Sunye. I let you down and also the boys. I'm so confused, this is the first time this happened to me," she replied. Usually, when she had a problem or was confused about something, she'd find a way to solve it or ask someone for help but she doesn't even know what she was confused about.
They were taking a walk outside the building to get some fresh air. "Maybe I can help?" Sunye offered but Yoobin shook her head.
"Just this once, I don't think anyone could help me. I need to clear my head for this one," Yoobin said as she stared at the sky. She took a deep breath and closed her eyes to see if she could understand whatever was happening to her. She almost felt completely relaxed and was so close to reaching what she wanted when a voice suddenly interrupted her "thinking."
"Oh my, you're here today?" A female voice said and Yoobin opened her eyes to see Hyori, who looked better, right in front of her.
"What... are you doing here?" Yoobin asked, startled by Hyori. She didn't look like she had cried a lot. It seemed like she was the happiest girl in the world.
"I'm coming to see my boyfriend," she replied with a smirk on her face.
"Rain?" Sunye asked but Hyori ignored her.
"It's none of your business." Hyori passed by them with a suspicious smirk on her face and Yoobin just couldn't get what it meant.
They watched her walk away as Hyori walked to the building, swinging her bag around her shoulder.
"What a bi--"
"Sunye-ah," Yoobin suddenly said and Sunye turned to look at her. "I saw her yesterday."
"You did?! Where?"
"During the date at the park. I was with TOP at the time. Taeyang got sick because of a ride. And then she was at the side, crying her eyes out."
Sunye's eyes widened at the news, surprised. "Are you sure? She looks like she's perfectly fine, like nothing happened!"
Yoobin nodded as she agreed with her. "It's so weird. She seemed like she was the saddest person in the world yesterday. And now she's all happy-go-lucky but still with her mean attitude. And TOP..."
"TOP...?" Sunye asked, waiting impatiently for Yoobin.
"TOP went with her. He comforted her in his arms and left me in the park."
Sunye looked at Yoobin's eyes while Yoobin looked at the far distant. She could see some sort of sadness behind her eyes as she said the last sentence. Could it be...
"Yoobin... have you fallen for... TOP?" Sunye said in a slight whisper and Yoobin shook her head confidently.
"Right now I'm saying no. But with my head being confused, I don't know anymore," Yoobin said, still not looking at Sunye. "I don't get myself. It was just one day, wasn't it? It's too fast to happen, and you know me."
Sunye nodded, remembering how Yoobin doesn't fall so easily for guys. But maybe, just maybe, TOP was a different case.
"Look, let's go back. We'll tell them we'll continue it some other time, okay?" Sunye suggested and Yoobin agreed. They slowly started to head back to the building.
--- --- ---
"You're back!" Seung Ri almost screamed with delight. "Can we continue recor--"
Yoobin shook her head and slightly bowed to everyone in the room. "I'm sorry to disappoint everyone, but I don't think I could continue recording today. I need some time to think."
"Think about what?" Jiyong asked out of curiosity. He, too, wanted to finish the recording today but he was more considerate of people.
"Something..." Yoobin muttered and TOP gave her a look which she missed.
"Fine, but I hope you can get back to yourself by next week," Seung Ri said, VERY disappointed that he didn't get to record and get to hear himself. He was always very impatient. Yoobin smiled at him and nodded.
"I'll promise you that I'll get it by this week." Yoobin and Sunye waved to them and left the room. As the two walked in the halls, Sunye remembered to give something to their producer.
"I'll wait for you at the entrance, okay?" Yoobin said and Sunye left after giving her a quick nod.
Sunye ran as fast as she could, which wasn't very fast, back to the room when she saw Rain and Hyori talking at the corner. She stopped at where she was and took a peek at the two. 'So she is visiting Rain,' she thought as she watched their actions.
"What do you mean?" Rain said to Hyori. 'Are they having an argument?' observed Sunye.
"I don't think we'll work out so well. I don't like you anymore," Hyori said as she tried to release herself from Rain.
"We've only been going out for a week! Come on Hyori, let's try this!" Rain pleaded.
"Rain, can't you tell? I never liked you to begin with actually. I just needed to get my mind off TOP, but now that I have him back," Hyori said with a grin, "I don't need you."
"You were using me?" Rain asked, unable to believe her. "Is that why you didn't come to our date yesterday? I waited for you in front of the theater but you never came..."
"That's right, I was with TOP." Sunye gasped and just before Hyori turned around, Sunye ran away and headed back to meet Yoobin.
--- --- ---
"Yoobin!" Sunye shouted as she tried her best to reach Yoobin. She was breathing heavily as she tried to explain what was going on to Yoobin.
"What's wrong?" Yoobin asked as she handed her water bottle to her.
"Hyori... used... boyfriend... TOP --"
"You know I can't understand you, right? Now let's go, we'll miss the bus," Yoobin said and started to walk.
"Yoobin-ah!" Sunye shouted as she tried to catch up with her.
"Just tell me already."
"Hyori! Did you know, she just used R--" Sunye said when her ringtone interrupted her. "Ugh, not now!"
"Yah, you should take the call, it might be important," Yoobin said. Sunye gave up and picked up the call.
"Yobosaeyo?" Sunye said with a bit of anger in her voice.
"Oh, Sunye-ah?" Mr. Junsu said in the other line.
"What is it?" she replied impatiently. 'Hurry up, I need to tell Yoobin everything!' she thought.
"Oh, didn't you say you were going to give me something today? I'm expecting it since I'll be gone for three days."
"Uh...okay, I'll be there in a few..."
"Oh, you need to be here right now. I'm leaving very very very soon. Okay?"
"Can I just tell --"
"Bye." And the other line became silent.
"AISH!" Sunye said. "Yoobin, I'll tell you later, okay? Go home without me. I need to meet up with the producer. It'll take some time."
"I'll see you later," Yoobin replied.
--- --- ---
It was Monday morning and Yoobin still didn't get her head cleared up but she felt better. She wasn't as stressed as she was the day before.
"Sunye-ah!" Yoobin called as soon as caught sight of her.
"Yoobin..." Sunye said and yawned. "I hate Monday mornings. Why do we have to go to school anyway!"
Yoobin laughed and glad to see that Sunye was normal. "Weren't you going to tell me something?"
Sunye scratched her head as she looked at Yoobin. "Was I?" She yawned once more and tried to remember what she wanted to say. "Can't remember."
Yoobin rolled her eyes at Sunye's forgetfulness and started to walk to class. Jiyong caught up to the two and started to freely chat with them. As soon as Sunye stepped in the class, she saw Taeyang smiling and talking with girls. This reminded her of Yoobin and their date, which lead to the whole Hyori thing. Just when she remembered about Hyori's case, it was too late to tell her. She'll have to wait another few hours. In the mean time, she tried to focus on her school work but her eyes kept moving to where Taeyang was.
'Is he really serious about Yoobin?' she thought. 'What if he does like her? But because of the promise... she might end up really liking TOP. Then won't he get hurt?' she wondered, a little bit concerned for the player. Player. 'That's right. He's a player, he can't be serious about a girl. Yoobin doesn't see him as anything more...' she drifted into other thoughts just when she realized that the boy she was thinking about was sitting right in front of her.
"What are you daydreaming about?" asked the curious Taeyang.
"Nothing..." Sunye shyly muttered. She didn't like the direct eye contact with Taeyang, it was giving her heart a hard time keeping the same beat.
"I see. Well, do you know if Yoobin is doing anything today?" he asked with a huge smile on his face, truly hoping her answer would be no.
"I don't think so... why?"
"I got it! Because she owes me a date," he said and winked at her. Just as he stood up, Sunye had to bring up the question that was bothering her.
"Taeyang-ssi!"
"You can call me Taeyang." Sunye nodded but didn't say his name again.
"Are you serious about... Yoobin?" she asked. What would be his answer?
