"Taeyang..." she whispered, not sure of what to say. It took her a few seconds before making a decision. "I'll try... but I can't promise you anything."
Taeyang immediately released her and looked at her in the eye. "Are you serious, Yoobin? You're actually going to try?"
Yoobin nodded. "But I said I can't promise anything. I can't say that I'll get to love you. It'll take a lot of time."
"No, it's enough. I'm happy to know you're trying to like me, to look only at me, right?" Taeyang said, his voice filled with excitement and cheerfulness. She smiled at him, a smile that showed she really will try... but how long will it really take until she'll get her heart to love the used-to-be player?

The tears just started streaming down Sunye's eyes. She shouldn't have stayed with TOP and Wonbin to watch their best friends confess what they feel. It hurt for her more watching the guy she likes jump up and down so happily to just hear her best friend say she will try. How happy would he be if she had said she liked him back? Her heart couldn't take it anymore. She turned around and saw TOP's eyes widened, shocked. Was he feeling the same too?
Wonbin sighed. "So much pabo around here..." he mumbled. He observed what these four were feeling and how they reacted to everything. Sure, he didn't understand much but he had enough to know that they all might be lying to themselves. Taeyang can be hurting himself if the love he's asking for isn't returned. Yoobin is forcing herself to love someone she might end up hurting. Yoobin's best friend, Sunye is hiding her feelings, pushing it away for the sake of the happiness of the one she loves and her greatest friend. And TOP, who's face was blank, was still trying to figure out everything.
Sunye started walking, probably going back home now. Wonbin decided to stay with TOP, who didn't move at all ever since he witnessed Yoobin and Taeyang's moment. He looked over at the two and found Taeyang brushing away Yoobin's tears. Wonbin heard TOP sigh. He saw him turn around and start to trudge along the sidewalk and quickly had to stop him.
"Yah! Where are you going?" he asked TOP fiercely. TOP rolled his eyes and evaded him, in no mood to fight back with a kid who was ten years younger than him. "Aren't you going to fight for my noona?"
TOP stopped and looked at him. "What are you talking about?"
"Don't you like Yoobin-noona? Isn't that why you were looking for her?" TOP smiled a bit.
"Yah, didn't you see her? She was hugging my best friend. And he looked so happy, too..."
"PABO! Didn't you hear her? She said she'll try, it doesn't mean she'll for sure like him. Aish, and I was voting for you, too!"
TOP looked at him, and shook his head. "I can't hurt my best friend. Plus Yoobin doesn't look too happy with me. She told me I made her cry... and that I already had Hyori."
"Yah, for just this time, can't you be a bit more selfish? She liked you in the first place, so technically, you had her! And just once, can't you fight for her? Win her love and get her back."
"..." TOP didn't answer him, so he kept on talking.
"Wait, you made her cry? And you have Hyori? What?"
"No, I didn't mean to make her cry. I don't even know what I did, but I'm positive that I won't ever make her cry. And Hyori and I are over. I don't love her anymore because Yoobin is the only one in my heart." Wonbin nodded, seeing his view.
"Then go, make her happy by your side. You'll regret it for the rest of your life, wondering what could've happened if you were with her than some other chick!" TOP smiled at him, seeing how mature he was for a twelve-year old kid who probably had no experience in love.
"I agree with you. Maybe, just this time, I'll go against my best friend. I just want to say that I tried." He looked down at him, grinning. He rubbed his head and spun around. "I'll go back!"
Wonbin nodded and waved at him, shouting, "HWAITING!"
TOP reached the park shortly but found no one there. He examined the place and realized that Taeyang's car wasn't there anymore. "Shet! Aish, Taeyang, you better not touch my girl!"

It was quiet and awkward in the car as Taeyang drove Yoobin back home. Even though Yoobin was looking out the window, she could feel Taeyang smiling beside her, and probably taking a few glances every now and then to gaze at her. After taking a deep breath, she decided she'll try to make a light conversation.
"So, when is the date you promised?" Taeyang said just as she opened her mouth to say something. She closed it again, completely forgetting what she wanted to say.
"I don't know..."
"How about this weekend?" he asked coolly, like nothing had happened earlier.
"Well..." she started, and remembered something. "I have to record at the studio."
"Oh..." Taeyang said and had a gut feeling that it was with B4B, in short: TOP. "Are you sure you want to go?"
Yoobin smiled, thanking him silently for his concern. "This can be a first step to getting over him... and maybe starting with you."
Taeyang whipped his head towards her and gazed at her, his eyes filled with delight. "Really?"
She nodded, hoping that she can keep everything she said. That she just might be able to forget him and then be friends with him, like nothing happened at all.

He opened the door for her and walked with her to the door. They smiled awkwardly at each other, but his smile was obviously filled with happiness. He couldn't have been happier just to hear her say she'll try. She stopped at the door and looked at him, trying to make her smile be just as happy.
"Thanks for driving me home," she said. Taeyang shrugged, trying to play it cool but with the wide smile on his face, he just looked like a small child that got a very big toy he wanted. Of course for him, Yoobin was no toy.
"So..." Taeyang said, his mood suddenly getting shy. Yoobin looked confused, wondering what he was thinking as he avoided her eyes. "Can I... get a goodbye kiss?"
He looked at him with a shy smile and she couldn't help but smile. He looked too cute. Maybe it wouldn't take that long to like him after all. "Hmm... maybe..."
She said and leaned closer to him. He faced forward and waited for the kiss but she started to laugh. "What?"
"Nothing. I don't kiss guys who hasn't had a proper first date with me." Taeyang rolled his eyes.
"And that's my fault? Who decided to ride that stupid roller coaster anyway!" he said and Yoobin laughed.
"I got it. After the first date, okay?" Taeyang sighed but nodded. It was better than no promise at all.
"At least at the cheek then --"
"No, go home!" Yoobin said and laughed. She waved goodbye and unlocked the door. Taeyang waited for her to get inside before leaving.

The past few days zoomed by without Yoobin and TOP making and actual contact. Their eyes met a few times in class but they never had an actual conversation or ever a word in between them. Yoobin was still in the phase of trying to forget her while TOP was thinking of a way to get her back. He decided to stay back for a while, using up some time to observe from far away, and at times he did look like a stalker but he never noticed.
Yoobin and Sunye were walking to the recording room. It was oddly quiet and Yoobin wondered if Sunye didn't wake up to a good morning.
"Yah, Sunye-ah... I've noticed you've been very quiet lately," Yoobin pointed out. She looked over to Sunye who wasn't even paying attention. "Yah, Sunye! Is something wrong?"
Sunye glanced at her with a confused expression. She smiled and shook her head. "I'm okay..." she said quietly, which was unusual.
"You don't look alright," she said and remembered how last week it was Sunye who was asking her this question.
"SUNNY! You're here, let's get in and start recording," Junsu said outside the door of the recording room. Yoobin nodded and sped up her pace of walking and noticed that Sunye didn't try to walk any faster. She had no choice but to drag her or else it will take her centuries just to get there.
"I hope both of you are ready to record!" Seung Ri said. Yoobin nodded. She had to get through this. It was only a small rap part with TOP, no big deal. She looked at Sunye who took deep breaths. She looked back at her and smiled.
"Don't worry anymore, Yoobin. I'm alright," she said and smiled widely. Yoobin didn't have to worry. She was strong so she would make it.
They finished recording in no time. Junsu quickly complimented them and said he had to run some other errands. B4B and the girls hung out for a while as they talked about the song. Sunye forced herself to act as natural and cheerful as possible. She didn't want Yoobin to worry.
"That was a good recording," Dae Sung said. "A few more weeks and we can debut!"
"Yay!" Sunye said with a not so energetic voice. Yoobin noticed that she didn't sound normal, but forced. She was about to ask her when they heard a knock at the door. Jiyong who was also quiet for a while answered it and found Taeyang standing by the door, holding flowers in his hands. TOP's eyes widened. He hasn't talked to him in a while after the incident and have constantly been avoiding him.
"Taeyang..." Yoobin said, startled a bit. "...why are you here?"
He smiled brightly at her and gave her the flowers. "Just visiting a GOOD friend of mine..."
Dae Sung and Seung Ri looked at each other. "Hyung, are you two...?"
Taeyang smiled, not saying anything. Jiyong was taken aback. He was starting to get even more confused with this complicated relationship. He looked over at TOP and noticed that he didn't look too happy. TOP walked towards Taeyang and noticed his serious serious expression.
"Can I talk to you?" TOP whispered to Taeyang.
"Right now?" he asked and TOP nodded. Taeyang smiled and looked over at Yoobin. "I'll be back."
Yoobin gave him a small nod and watched the two best friends walk out the door. That may be the last time he'll see their friendship work so well.

"What do you need to talk about?" Taeyang asked innocently, as if he didn't already know.
"About Yoobin."
"I expected that," he mumbled and looked him in the eye. "I already told you, I'm serious about her."
"You're going to hurt her," said TOP simply. This was annoying Taeyang.
"How could you say that? Wasn't it you who hurt her? She wouldn't have been like this if you never cam into her life," he replied. He just couldn't stand back and let Yoobin be taken away by TOP, by anyone. This was the first time he's had a rival in love and it just had to be his best friend. It was also his first time fight for love, his first love.
TOP smirked. "She likes me and you know it."
Taeyang twitched. His perfect day he planned was ruined. "Do you know why she's with me right now?" he said, not asking for an answer. "Because she wants to forget. EVERYTHING."
TOP shook his head. It's true, he heard everything she said at the park after all. "Taeyang, you're my best friend, but I can't let you go with the girl that likes ME."
"What? TOP, aren't you a bit conceited? She likes you, you could say that now but just as fast as she liked you, she could easily forget you. And you have to accept the fact that she's trying to make it work between me and her." TOP didn't care about what Taeyang was saying anymore. He had already made up his mind.
"Why do you even care anyway?" Taeyang said to TOP. "You already have Hyori, don't you?"
"I'm fighting for her," TOP said, his eyes staring at Taeyang's filled with honesty. "That's why I'm still here. To make sure her love is only for me."
"What --"
"I love her. I love Yoobin."

i felt like this was a short chapter x )
