Chapter 9

How Did I Fall In Love With You?

An hour or so later, a doctor came out of the double doors. Meizhou immediately stopped the pacing that he’s been doing back and forth for the past half an hour, and walked over to the doctors. Daoming Si, Sanchai, and Lei all stood up from their sits and went to stand behind Meizhou. Ximen was unable to get up because Xiao You had fallen asleep on him after her little crying session.

Meizhou: How is she, doctor?

Doctor: How are you related to Miss Xiao Qiao?

Meizhou: I’m her fiancée.

Doctor, giving Meizhou a small nod of recognition: Well, she’s a very lucky lady. Aside from a broken leg, couple of bruised ribs, all she has is a mild concussion. A couple days of rest in the hospital and she’s good to go. She’s sleeping right now because of the drugs we gave her.

Meizhou: Thank you, doctor. Where is she now? Can we see her?

Doctor: Just doing my job. She should be in room 319 by now. You can go ahead up.

Meizhou: Thanks.

The doctor nodded at Meizhou and the rest before walking away.

Ximen: You guys go ahead. This one here (pointing at Xiao You) is still sleeping. We’ll meet you in Xiao Qiao’s room later when she wakes up.

Sanchai: You sure, Ximen? I can stay if you want.

Ximen: No, Sanchai, go. I know you want to see how Xiao Qiao’s doing.

Meizhou: Thanks, man.

Daoming Si: Let’s go then.

Lei led the way to the elevator and he, Daoming Si, Meizhou, and Sanchai disappeared behind the elevator doors.

Ximen’s legs had long gone numb, with Xiao You still on his lap. But really, he didn’t care one bit. He found himself thinking that she can stay there forever and he wouldn’t mind; actually, he would love that. If this was another girl, he would have complained by now. But it’s not, this is Xiao You. Again, a song came flowing out of the radio into Ximen’s ears. This time, it was BSB singing ‘How Did I Fall In Love With You?’

Ximen fell deep into his thoughts once again when the song ended. Somehow, that song said everything that was in his heart.
