“Yeah!” Eunji proudly exclaimed in glee, his big blue eyes staring up at me. “Because if he wouldn’t I’d always sulk in my room so they were forced to do it!”
I laughed at Eunji, but then I remembered one thing.
“Oh, yes. How was yesterday?” I asked worriedly.
“Oh, yeah.,” Eunji scratched his head. “Yunho doesn’t destroy stuff anymore. He just lies on the ground and shakes liked an epileptic.”
“An epileptic?!” I laughed at Eunji. He was five years old and he knew such word. I patted his head.
“And you know what, noona? He got wet in the rain last night because we got home from the church when he was attacked, and it was raining then!”
“Raining? But why did you come to church? It wasn’t Sunday yesterday.”
“We always bring him to church every week.” Eunji answered me. “I don’t know why, but we always go with him, also on Sundays.”
“Really…”I paused. How could this be happening to Yunho if he had such a supportive family? Wasn’t coming with him to church every week and Sundays, too, making him feel accepted enough? What is making his heart so closed? I have to know why.
I looked at the clock hanging on the wall of the living room. It was eleven o’clock. I just arrived from Safari Resort earlier that day so I was late.
“Maybe I’ll just see your brother.”
“Okay!” Eunji ran along now.
I climbed up the stairs and made my way into his room. I knocked the door and came in upon hearing nothing. I don’t know why, but I’m feeling very brave that day and I didn’t feel scared anymore. Not even a bit, even if I knew that ‘it’ had just went to him the day before. I thought maybe I was only depressed with my family that gone earlier that day.
I saw him sleeping on his bed. That was weird. Weird, not only because he was wearing a tux again but also because he was sleeping again that morning.
I came closer to him and almost stumbled on his leather shoes.
“Yunho?” I tried to talk to him, but he wouldn’t answer.
I started to get paranoid again. What if he’s unconscious because of the work of the devil and he’s really not asleep? Or worse! No, I don’t want to think that…But why is he sleeping during this time of day? I decided to wake him just to make sure he’s alright. I don’t care if he gets angry with me if I wake him up. I have to make sure.
I held his arm and felt the black cloth of his tuxedo. For a moment, I thought of how expensive his tux might be. I shook it. No response. But then, I noticed that he was shivering. I stopped and felt the temperature. It wasn’t too cold, but I went to the air-conditioner and lowered it down, anyway.
I came back beside his bed, and watched him continued to shiver. A thought hit me. I immediately put my hand on his forehead. He was hot! I began to get nervous once I remembered Eunji saying that he was rained on yesterday. He caught fever!
I paused and then immediately turned off the air conditioner, totally. Then, I came to him and tucked his blankets snugly around him. He looked like sushi ready to be sliced. After that, I rushed out of the room and told the maids about it.
They only prepared a glass of water and a tablet of medicine on the tray. They were all very cool about it. I wondered if they were already used to it, so I asked one of them if Yunho was always sick, and just as what I’ve expected, she said ‘yes’. After realizing that I offered to take the medicine to him myself. After all, I felt kind of responsible for him even if it’s not the part of my job.
I came into his room and put the tray on the table beside his bed. I wondered if I should wake him. Maybe I should. He needed to drink his medicine for us to see improvement on his sickness.
I reached out my hand and shock him once. Twice. Thrice. He groaned Oh, thank goodness!
“Yunho…” I whispered to him. “You have to drink your medicine.”
He groaned again. I tried to help him sit up because I know how hard it is to sit up when you’re sick. I gasped at his weight! After I had made him sit up, I supported the back of his head with my hand for it wobbled. He kept his eyes closed. I put the tablet in his mouth, raised the glass up to his mouth and made him drink the water. After that, he immediately rested his head on the pillows again.
I began to sweat because I had turned off the aircon earlier.
I heard him groan
“What’s wrong?” I asked as I pulled the chair beside his bed.
“My…body…hurts….” He responded with all his might.
“D-don’t worry. The medicine will take effect at anytime now.” I assured him, but I empathized with him. I knew what it feels liked. I also get sick.
“Where’s your mother?” I asked, wondering why I’m doing the mother’s job here.
“She’s out of town with dad. They left this morning…”Yunho answer
“Oh…that's-—nothing.” I scratched my head. Why do I have to do this? That’s great! Ironically speaking…
“So, Yunho. How does your mother accompany you when you’re sick?”
“Why?...”
“So that I may also do it. You know what Yunho? Every mother has their unique way of taking care of their children when they’re sick. My mom always brings me soup when I’m down with the flu, then she keeps on playing sweet, classy music.”
“Don’t bother knowing…You won’t do it anyway…”Yunho said, being so snobbish again.
“Why not?”
“Just let me sleep…”
Sheesh! Here I am, taking care of him and he snubs me! Very ungrateful…I decided to walk out of the room and let him cry with pain
