"I'm thirsty." he said, tugging at my enchained wrist. "Don't worry. This time I'll pay for it."
"Fine" I nodded my head, then went with him to the juice bar.
And so, there we went, then we toured around the big place holding our styrocups filled with punch. We went to some of the rides, but Yunho never went on the roller coaster no matter how much I pleaded him to. I almost watched to propose to ride by myself, but then I remembered I was tied to him so there's really nothing I could do.
Then, at lunchtime, we met his family again and we ate at the pizzeria near the entrance. We parted ways again after but this time, Eunji came with me and Yunho. It became more enjoyable with Eunji around, because he kept on cracking jokes and couldn’t help but laugh. Yunho, though, kept annoyingly quiet all throughout.
The sun had already set. Everyone turned their fancy lights on the Downtown Gym looked prettier than ever! The place is so breath-taking, and even if Yunho stays quiet and he doesn't admit it, I can see it in his face that he also likes the place. Streetlights lighted our paths, and this staff member walks around holding a megaphone and announcing that there will be a fireworks display at exactly eight-thirty in the evening. We must stand at the town square area to be able to get a good view of that.
I kept my eye on Eunji as he keeps fooling around and circling the posts and streetlamps standing around the pathways and sidewalks. I watched Eunji until he reached the bridge over pretty deep canal under it.
"Be careful," I called at him. "You might fall off the bridge. Your brother and I will be having a hard time getting you out of there."
Eunji obediently nodded as I asked a janitor walking nearby if the water underneath is pretty deep. He answered me, saying that it was only up to our waist. Eunji was up to our waist so it was still risky.
Yunho and I approached the edge. of the mini-river and watched Eunji as he fooled around on the bridge. Soon, I noticed that the people were going gone in the area. I glanced at the watch hanging inside the mini-shop across the bridge. It was almost eight-thirty. I called Eunji and told him we should go now to the fireworks display area, and he excitedly went to us.
But that's when trouble started. When Eunji excitedly come to me and Yunho, he accidentally knocked both of us off the edge of the ground and into the deep water! Splash! went the water! Yunho and I were wet from head to toe because our fall was back first. We wiped our wet faces and looked up at the cemented edge of the canal. There was no way we could climb up. The wall was exactly perpendicular to the bottom of the river pool and it was too high up! How we are going to get out of there?
"Eunji, please get help!" I asked Eunji who was worriedly standing above us. How humiliating!
Yunho kept on craning his neck and looking around, unsuccessfully finding a way up and out of our predicament.
A few minutes later, Eunji was back telling us that there weren't any people anymore! The shops were already closed and all the tourist were at the townsquare already, witnessing the fireworks display while we were stuck here, soaked in this river pool whose cleanliness we were unsure of.
"I'll go out there and find the people." Eunji suggested.
"No. Eunji! stay where your are,' Yunho became aggressive and noisy all of a sudden after not talking for more than fiffteen minutes and the last thing he said was 'Okay.'...."You'll get lost!"
"Y-yeah, your brother's right." I agreed with Yunho, "Maybe just sit there and we'll wait for them to return."
"Okay..." Eunji said and we saw him sit at the edge of the bridge.
"Where's the key?" Yunho faced me and lifted our handcuffs. "I know you have it."
"Don't be silly I don't--"
"Oh please. ~~~~~. You're not fooling me."
I thought that maybe this would be a reasonable time to remove our handcuffs, so I dug my pocket in search for the key. As if we weren't unfortunate enough. I couldn't find them! I dug my hand under the pocket submerged in water but it wasn't there! I searched in every pocket I had with the same outcome: nothing.
"You lost it?!" Yunho looked terribly worried.
"I'm sorry, but it must have fallen off when we fell into the water!" I apologized.
"Now what do we do?"
"I...I don't know. Maybe we'll just wait and get help."
Yunho stayed silent and moved impatiently, but at least he's not the kind of guy who'd throw temper tantrums and would shout and shout at you when he's angry. I actually never heard him blame me or anything.
Fifteen minutes later, we heard Eunji approach someone and ask him for help. Help, at last! The staff member peeked and saw us standing wet down below.
The handcuffs almost hindered the personnel from pulling us out of the mini-river. But after a few minutes of struggling and perseverance, we were able to make it!
It was so embarrassing when we got up. People were staring at us and pitying us from all around. I almost felt like melting in humiliation! Sunye and Freddy were there with the twins, and they got towels ready for us both.
