Tavia walked to the coffee shop in the airport and got a table. She waited for Raymond who joined her 10 minutes later. After breakfast Tavia said, “Ray, I think I’ll go check in now. You should head back to the office. I’ll call you when I reach Shanghai.” Tavia smiled.
“Okay. In that case, you take care of yourself and make sure you only spend 4 days in Shanghai! No more… or else I’ll be making a trip up to Shanghai to pick you up!” Raymond grinned as he got up and walked her to the counter. “I guarantee the fact that if I pick you up from Shanghai, it will definitely give me a lot of bonus points!” he winked.
“You really think so…?” Tavia questioned him.
“Pretty sure” Raymond winked at her before turning around to leave.
“So I’ll probably see you in Shanghai then…” Tavia yelled back smile while she lined up and waited for her turn. Raymond on the other hand left to get his car.
When Tavia checked in, the lady in the counter flipped Tavia’s passport open and realized that Tavia’s China visa has just expired. “Miss Yeung, there seems to be a slight problem here. Your visa to China is no longer valid. I’m sorry but I’m afraid we cannot let you board the plane.”
“Say what?! Are you kidding? Oh no…” Tavia exclaimed as she took a look at her passport and realized that the visa was indeed expired. Tavia took her ticket and passport and walked to the side. She took her phone out and dialed back to the office to find Leila.
“Hello Lei…” Tavia said.
“Tav… what’s up? You’re in the airport now, right?” Leila replied on the other line.
“There seems to be a slight problem Lei. I can’t board the plane. My China visa has apparently expired and there is no way I can renew my visa when I arrive in Shanghai. Lei, do you have a visa to China? If you do, I’m afraid you might have to make a trip up to Shanghai to see Mr. and Mrs. Chang.” Tavia explained.
“I think I do. In that case… I’ll book my ticket now and hopefully I can fly off tomorrow. Don’t worry. We can sort it out when you’re back in the office.” Leila said.
“I guess that’s the only thing we can do right now. Let me make a call to Shanghai and apologize to Mr. and Mrs. Chang. I’ll explain to them my current situation and tell them that you will head off tomorrow instead. Thanks Lei.” Tavia sighed.
“No probs. Talk to you later.”
Tavia took a glimpse at her watch and dragged her bags to the benches near the check in counter. She took her files out and searched for Mr. and Mrs. Chang’s number in Shanghai. By the time she finished talking to them she took another look at her watch. 10:15am. “Great. I should have taken off already… Look at me now. Stuck in the airport!” Tavia thought to herself. As she put her files back into her bag she heard an announcement being broadcasted.
- Special announcement, China United Air Flight KT 905 bound for Shanghai has encountered some problem with the plane’s engine and is heading back to Hong Kong airport. All the passengers are safe and will be transferred to another plane… -
“KT 905…? Isn’t that the plane I’m supposed to be in?” Tavia thought to herself. “Ugh, let’s call my driver to come pick me up first.” She took her phone out and realized that her battery was running low. Turning her phone off, Tavia got up and walked towards the public phone on the side of the counter to call her driver.

Meanwhile, Raymond was driving out to the city. Listening to the early news on the radio, he suddenly heard about the news of the plane Tavia was supposed to be on. Without delay, he made a quick U-turn and headed back to the airport. He tried calling Tavia on her cellphone but he couldn’t get through. He started to panic. 15 minutes later, he arrived at the airport. He jumped out of his car and headed towards the check-in counters.
“Hey sir. You can’t park your car here. If you don’t…” the policeman yelled at Raymond.
Raymond ignored the policeman’s warning and continued running.
“If you don’t remove your car, I’ll have it towed away!!” the policeman yelled.
Without turning back Raymond continued running. All he could think of at the moment was Tavia. Is she alright? Where is she? He finally reached the check-in counter. “Miss, are all the passengers on flight KT 905 okay? Where are they? Can you help check if Miss Tavia Yeung who’s a passenger on the plane… is she okay?”
“Hang on mister. Calm down. All the passengers are fine. They are all being transferred to another flight. They should be out very shortly.” The lady in the counter replied.
“Where are they?” Raymond continued to ask anxiously. He took his phone out and dialed Tavia’s number. Unfortunately Tavia’s phone was turned off since she was out of battery. Raymond continued dialing when he saw a group of passengers walk towards the counter. It must the passengers from the plane. “Tavia… Where are you? Tavia…” Raymond yelled as he entered the crowd and looked around for Tavia.
Tavia on the other hand finished calling her driver when all of a sudden she heard someone call her. She turned around and spotted Raymond running around in the crowd of people. “Ray?” she thought to herself.
