Chapter 23

Thursday – In Tavia’s office.
“Hey, Tav. Ready to go?” Raymond popped his head into Tavia’s office.
“Oh hi sweetie. Yep. I’m ready… just give me another minute.” Tavia got up and started shoving her files into her bag.
“Hey, remember last time you asked me if any of my girl friends were single…?” Raymond asked Tavia when they walked out of the office.
“Uh huh… you seriously went and asked around?” Tavia giggled.
“Well, no harm in introducing a friend to Ron… right?” Raymond looked back at Tavia.
“I guess. So who’s that lucky girl you planning to introduce to Ron?“ Tavia laughed. “Make sure she’s not as pretty as me!”
“Nancy!” Raymond exclaimed.
“Bosco’s sister, Nancy?” Tavia asked suspiciously.
“Yep. And don’t worry, to me you’re always the prettiest!” Raymond chuckled. “I called her to come for dinner as well. You think it’s okay if we have an extra person?”
“Shouldn’t be a prob!” Tavia smiled.
“Good.” Raymond smiled happily as they walked to get Raymond’s car.

In the Restaurant.
Raymond and Tavia walked in the restaurant and spotted Nancy sitting there already so they walked over to the table.
“Hey Lang-mui.” Raymond smiled.
“Hey Nancy.” Tavia smiled.
“HI Raymond-Gor…” Nancy got up and hugged Raymond. “Hi Tavia.”
“Wow… didn’t have to hug me so tightly!” Raymond laughed. “Tavia never hugged me as tight before! Tav, you should learn from Nancy.” Raymond winked at Tavia.
Tavia shrugged her shoulders and sat down. Just as Raymond was going to go to sit next to Tavia, Nancy pulled Raymond to the seat next to her. “Raymond-Gor, sit HERE!”
Raymond looked at Tavia and whispered ‘sorry’. Tavia responded with a smile.
As they were reading the menu, Ron arrived. “Sorry, I’m late.”
“Hi Ron…” Tavia smiled as she got up and gave Ron a friendly hug.
“Hi Tav. Hi Raymond. Congratulations by the way.” Ron said as he shook Raymond’s hand.
“Ron, let me introduce you to a friend of ours. Nancy, this is Ron. Ron, this is Nancy.” Raymond smiled.
“Nice to meet you Nancy.” Ron smiled as he gazed at Nancy’s beauty.
“Likewise.” Nancy smiled and sat down immediately after they shook hands.
“So should we order something to drink first?” Raymond asked as he touched Tavia’s hand which was on the table.
“Sure. Let’s do that.” Ron cried out happily. “Uh… Nancy, what would you like?”
“Um…” Nancy looked at the drink list.
“Tavia and I will have the house red. What about you Ron?”
“Same… actually, why don’t we order a whole bottle instead?” Ron suggested.
“Yeh. Sounds better that way.” Tavia added.
“Okay. Fine with me. Lang-mui you up for some wine?” Raymond patted Nancy on the head.
“Stop calling me Lang-mui! Wine’s fine.” Nancy brushed Raymond’s hand away angrily and pouted.
“Okay, okay… easy there!” Raymond backed off. “Sorry lor.”
“Fine. You’re forgiven.” Nancy grinned.
Ron called the waiter over and ordered a bottle of wine while the rest were still busy looking at the menu.
Raymond leaned towards Tavia. “What do you want to eat?”
“Um… I’ll probably have…” Tavia replied but before she could even finish her sentence, Nancy interrupted them.
“Raymond-Gor… Do you think I should have the Veal or Lamb Chops?”
Raymond looked at Nancy and shrugged his shoulder. “Up to you.” However whenever Raymond wanted to turn back to Tavia, Nancy would always bug him with another question.
Observing the two, Ron nudged Tavia. “Seems like the friend you wanted to introduce to me is more interested in your fiancé.”
“Don’t say that. She is Ray’s best friend’s little sister. Raymond and Nancy virtually grew up together. She treats her as a little sister only. I trust him.” Tavia explained the Ron.
“Well, let’s hope she only treats Raymond as an older brother. I think she’s really cute.” Ron smiled.
Tavia giggled and hit him playfully on the arm. “So, are we all ready to order?” Tavia asked.
“Yep.” Ron raised his hand.
“Me too. What you having Tav?” Raymond asked Tavia.
“Lamb Chops.” Tavia smiled.
“Me too!” Raymond cried out happily. “Aw… you and I think alike. We’re such a great match!”
“Whatever.” Tavia giggled.
“Me TOO. I’m having the Lamb Chops. Just like you Raymond-Gor.” Nancy cried out.
“I thought you decided on the Veal two minutes ago.” Raymond asked immediately.
“I’m having whatever you’re having!” Nancy smiled.
“Okay, okay. That’ll be one Veal and Three Lamb Chops.” Tavia told the waiter.
“How would you like the Lamb Chops?” The waiter asked.
“We’ll all have it done medium…” Raymond replied.
“Actually…” Tavia interrupted.
“This lady here will have hers medium-well.” Ron told the waiter.
“That’s right. Can’t stand too much blood.” Tavia laughed.
Nancy observing Tavia and Ron, whispered into Raymond’s ear. “That Ron guys seems to know Tavia pretty well.”
“He’s Tavia’s ex. They went out for 4 years. Of course he knows her well.” Raymond replied.
“Maybe he still likes her.” Nancy suggested.
“Of course not. Plus, Tavia’s with me now.” Raymond told Nancy.
“But look at the two laugh. Some times, you have to trust a girl’s instinct.” Nancy added.
“Whatever. I trust Tavia.” Raymond replied and turned back to Ron and Tavia.
While Raymond and Nancy were busy discussing Ron and Tavia, Tavia took a quick look at the two and started to feel a bit uncomfortable with Raymond and Nancy’s closeness. She started to think back at what Ron told her earlier on about Nancy being interested in Raymond.
Raymond on the other hand, looked at Tavia and Ron talk and laugh. Although a part of him keeps telling him that he should trust Tavia another part keeps bringing up Nancy’s comment on Tavia and Ron’s closeness.

Near the end of dinner, Raymond paid for the bills.
“Raymond, I said I was going to pay for this meal.” Ron said when Raymond gave the waiter his credit card. “I wanted to congratulate the two of you.”
“Hey, leave it for the big wedding present I’m expecting from you!” Raymond smiled.
“Yeh… I’m looking forward to receiving a big one from you Ron.” Tavia laughed as they got up to get ready to leave.
“Ron, do me a favor please and help send Nancy home for us?” Raymond asked.
“Where you going Raymond-Gor?” Nancy asked curiously.
“Tavia and I got somewhere to go. You don’t want to be a ‘light bulb’, do you?” Raymond winked at Nancy.
“But…” Nancy mumbled.
“Thanks Ron.” Tavia smiled.
“No problem. Let’s go Nancy.” Ron suggested. He walked over and gave Tavia a hug and shook Raymond’s hand before her left.
As they walked out, Nancy looked back at Raymond and Tavia.

Inside Ron’s car.
“So Nancy, where do you live?” Ron asked as he started the engine.
“Do you want to go grab a drink?” Nancy asked.
“A drink? Now?” Ron asked.
“Yeah. I’m bored.” Nancy replied.
Ron seeing that Nancy was probably not very happy decided to go with her. So they drove off to a bar to grab a drink.
