Chapter 30
In Jazz Club.
“Aw… LATE.” Bosco shouted when he spotted Raymond and Tavia walking over.
“Sorry we’re late.” Raymond smiled.
“Sorry.” Tavia smiled as they settled themselves down.
“How are we going to punish the two of them?” Leila added.
“Punish?” Raymond asked.
“Of course. We’ve been waiting for a LONG time! I mean look… six of us waiting for you two!” Bosco exclaimed.
“All Tavia’s fault. Punish her!” Raymond chuckled .
Tavia smacked Raymond’s arm lightly.
“So tell us how it’s my sister’s fault before we think of what mean things we can do to her.” Matt played along.
“It’s not my fault.” Tavia whined.
“Hush Tav. Let Raymond explain.” Ron chuckled.
“If we came immediately after the movie, we wouldn’t be late but my dear girlfriend here…” Tavia gave Raymond a death stare and pinched him lightly on the arm. “Waah… no, no… I left all your presents at home. So we had to go get them. I mean I take it you all still want your presents, right?.” Raymond explained.
“I’m not too sure about that Ray. After all, they were planning to punish us. I assume we can bring the presents home.” Tavia grinned.
“Exactly what I had in mind too. Sweetie, you’re so smart.” Raymond grinned back and kissed Tavia lightly on the cheeks. “We can save the presents for other people.”
“Well, I’m not too bothered about the presents. I got mine already.” Leila smirked.
“Me too. So I guess, Lei and I will still have the right to punish you two!” Matt stuck his tongue out at Tavia.
“Oh bummer. That’s true.” Tavia giggled.
“I don’t care. I want the presents and I still want to punish you two.” Bosco grinned.
“Whatever… Punish me only. Don’t punish Tavia.” Raymond laughed. “Okay, since all of us are here tonight… punish my wallet. MY TREAT!” Raymond yelled as he put his arms around Tavia.
“That’s more like it!” Bosco shouted.
“Anyhow, here are your presents.” Tavia smiled as she reached for the presents in the bags. “Bosco… Sharon… Ron… and of course Nancy.” Tavia handed each of them their presents.
“Happy?” Raymond chuckled.
“Thank you.” They all cried out as they put their presents away.
“I’ll open it later.” Nancy giggled as she looked at Ron who was also putting his present away.
“Yo waiter… two bottles of champagne please!” Raymond told the waiter.
“So did anything new or interesting happen while Ray and I were away?” Tavia grinned at Ron and Nancy.
“Oh yeah…” Raymond added as he gave Ron a friendly punch on the arms.
Nancy and Ron blushed. “Let me tell you guys!” Bosco butted in. “Haha… they’re together!”
“Gor…” Nancy whined.
“What?! It’s true.” Bosco chuckled.
“Congrats!“ Both Tavia and Raymond cried out as they raised their champagne glasses.
Ron grabbed Nancy’s hands and showed the rest of them that they were holding hands as well as to signify that they were going out.
“This is so cool. We got four couples here.” Tavia giggled.
“And out of the four couples we have here, Raymond and Tavia are the first to get married!” Bosco laughed. “Hey Tavia, you sure Raymond’s the one?”
“Hey, what was that supposed to mean?” Raymond cried out. “I’m a great boyfriend and I know I’ll be a great husband!” Raymond grinned.
“Please Ray… stop bragging!” Tavia giggled as she placed her hands on his face.
“I’m not bragging. I’m sure I’m much better than Bosco! Hey Sharon, think twice on whether or not Bosco’s really the one!” Raymond chuckled.
“Yeah I agree with Raymond.” Leila giggled.
“Thanks for the advice. I’ll keep a note on that.” Sharon smiled.
“Hey… you two trying to break me and my girlfriend up? What kind of friends are you?” Bosco cried out as he immediately hugged Sharon.
“We’re friends that know you way too well! Plus, what are you complaining about? You’re the one that started it!” Raymond grinned.
“I didn’t want to be involved in this discussion but then I thought I should try to warn Sharon on what kind of person you are! Therefore, I’m with Raymond on this.” Leila giggled.
“Yo Leila, gimme five!” Raymond cried out.
“You guys, stop picking on Bosco.” Tavia giggled.
“Haha… my brother’s not that bad. Don’t worry Sharon.” Nancy added.
“I’m sure Bosco’s a great boyfriend to Sharon.” Ron decided to help Bosco out.
“Ron are you trying to suck up to your future brother-in-law?” Matt chuckled. Ron and Nancy blushed.
“I’m just stating what I think is correct.” Ron replied.
“Right…?” Matt, Leila, Raymond and Tavia cried out.
“Anyhow, thank you. This…” Bosco pointed at Tavia, Ron and Nancy. “… this is what I call FRIENDS!”
“Oh is that right? Then this toast is to friendship.” Raymond laughed as he raised his glass again. The rest of them raised their glasses and clanked them against each other’s glasses.
“To FRIENDSHIP!” They all laughed. That night all eight of them had a great time. Suddenly, Raymond got up and excused himself from the table. “Where did you go?” Tavia asked when Raymond got back.
“Bathroom.” Raymond smiled. Suddenly, the intro to ‘No One Else Comes Close’ started to play. “Let’s dance, sweetie.”
Tavia giggled and nodded. “Bathroom huh?” Raymond grinned and shrugged his shoulders. They got up and walked over to the dance floor.
Bosco and the rest seeing the two of them dance, decided to join them on the dance floor. Eventually, the dance floor was packed with four happy couples: Bosco and Sharon; Leila and Matt; Ron and Nancy; and last but not least Raymond and Tavia.
“I’m so happy tonight.” Raymond whispered to Tavia.
“Me too.” Tavia smiled.
“I’m so grateful to have friends like them. But above all, I’m so grateful to have you with me.” Raymond continued. “You mean the world to me.”
“Aw… you’re such a sweet-talker.” Tavia giggled. “I’m glad I have you too. Can you imagine what we’ll be like in another 40 years time?”
Raymond closed his eyes and attempted to imagine. “Let’s see?”
Tavia closed her eyes as well and tried to imagine. “What do you see?”
“I see the two of us walking hand in hand on the beach. You look slightly chubbier, your hair is grey… and your face is full of wrinkles. As to me… I still look the same… handsome is the only word I can use to describe myself.” Raymond chuckled.
“Very funny Ray. You don’t quite look like that in my imagination. I can see you with a big belly… um, you’re a bit bold… and you’re the one with a face full of wrinkles!” Tavia giggled.
“No matter how we end up in future, you’re still the most beautiful woman to me.” Raymond said as he hugged Tavia tightly in his arms and started singing.
No one else comes close to you
No one makes me feel the way you do
You’re so special girl to me
And you’ll always be eternally
Every time I hold you near
You always say the words I love to hear
Girl with just a touch you can do so much
No one else comes close.
“Thank you Ray for making my life so wonderful. I love you.” Tavia whispered into Raymond’s ear.
