Chapter 31

Weeks passed by. Both the Lam’s and the Yeung’s have been busy with the wedding preparation. As the big day approached, the more excited and nervous they both felt. Raymond knew that marrying Tavia was what he had always wanted. He loved her with all his heart and of course she was the only one who he wanted to spend the rest of his life with. Tavia likewise loved Raymond as they have gone through many ups and downs together. She knew that no matter what, Raymond’s love towards her would never change and this feeling made her feel safe and warm.

Just the night before the wedding after hanging the phone up, both Tavia and Raymond were sitting in their room looking out at the windows imagining their perfect wedding tomorrow. Just a simple thought of seeing the other was enough to leave a big smile on their faces.

30 August – In Tavia’s house.
“Wake up Tav! It’s your big day today! We got to start getting ready!” Leila cried out as she shook the sleeping Tavia vigorously.
“Mm… give me another 5 minutes.” Tavia mumbled.
“No… We’ve got lots to DO!” Leila continued. “Raymond and the guys are already waiting for you downstairs.”
“WHAT?! ALREADY??” Tavia opened her eyes immediately and looked at Leila. “My goodness, where’s my dress?”
“Haha… I knew this would wake you up! Come on lazy bones. We’ve only got an hour left before Raymond really comes!” Leila laughed.
“Aw… Lei, you freaked me out a minute ago.” Tavia cried out as she stretched her arms.
“For goodness Tav, I’m even more excited than you are! It seems as though I’m the one getting married.” Leila said as she pushed Tavia into the bathroom.
“Haha… I know you want to get married. Don’t worry… I’ll hint it to my brother!” Tavia popped her head out of the bathroom and winked at Leila. Leila walked over and prepared Tavia’s dress while she showered. Half an hour later, Tavia and Leila were both in their dresses while the hairdresser was busy setting Tavia’s hair.
“I’m so nervous Lei. This is it.” Tavia breathed in.
“I know. It’s so exciting. I’m so happy for you!” Leila smiled at her best friend.

Another half an hour later, Tavia was ready and without any doubt she looked fabulous. At that moment, Raymond arrived to pick his bride up. “Hey Matt. Hello Uncle.”
“Still calling my dad uncle? Should start calling him Dad.” Matt laughed as he patted Raymond’s shoulders.
“Where’s Tavia?” Raymond asked excitedly.
“Someone looking for me?” Tavia giggled as she walked down the stairs with Leila following behind.
“Wow… there are absolutely no words to describe how magnificent you look.” Raymond smiled brightly as he walked over to Tavia and held her hands.
“Okay I think we better head off to the church.” Mr. Yeung smiled happily.

In the church.
Raymond waited anxiously. Bosco patted him on the shoulder and smiled. “Yo easy buddy.”
“This is it. Raymond Lam… this is your big day. The day you’ve been dreaming for ever since you met Tavia.” Raymond mumbled to himself. Very shortly, Tavia and Mr. Yeung walked down the aisle.
“Promise to take very good care of my daughter?” Mr. Yeung smiled as he handed Tavia’s hand over to Raymond.
“I promise.” Raymond smiled back and held onto Tavia’s hand tightly as they turned around to the Vicar.
“Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to join in the bonds of holy Matrimony, Raymond and Tavia. If any man can show just cause, why they may not lawfully be joined together, let him now speak, or else hereafter for ever hold his peace.” Said the Vicar. After a slight pause, the Vicar continued. “Raymond, do you take Tavia as your lawfully wedded wife to live together after God's ordinance in the holy estate of Matrimony? Will you love her, comfort her, honor, and keep her in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, stay loyal to her, so long as you both shall live?” The Vicar asked.
“I do.” Raymond replied.
“Tavia, do you take Raymond as your lawfully wedded husband to live together after God's ordinance in the holy estate of Matrimony? Will you love him, comfort him, honor, and keep him in sickness and in health; and, forsaking all others, stay loyal to him, so long as you both shall live?” The Vicar asked.
“I do.” Tavia replied.
“You may exchange your rings.” The priest said. Raymond and Tavia smiled at each other while they helped the other put on their marriage rings. “By giving and receiving a ring and by joining hands, I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may now kiss the bride.” The Vicar continued.
Raymond looked into Tavia’s eyes and smiled happily. He leaned forward and gave Tavia a deep kiss on her lips. “I love you Lo-por (Lo-por is Wife in Cantonese).” Raymond whispered into Tavia’s ear.
“I love you too, Lo-gung (Lo-gung is Husband in Cantonese).” Tavia replied as she too smiled brightly. Everyone in the church got up and started clapping. They turned around and faced all the guests. Hand in hand, they walked down the aisle while everyone else followed them behind. Without any doubt, Raymond and Tavia were one VERY HAPPY couple and probably the happiest couple on earth!

THE END... for now!
