In Lam’s Corporation – In Mr. Lam’s office
“Not bad Raymond. Not bad at all.” Nodded Mr. Lam as he read Raymond’s proposal. “Sounds like a very good plan.”
“I told you dad. Ray’s a very competent boy!” smiled Louis in agreement.
“Thanks dad. Thanks Gor. I hope this proposal will be able to pass through the board meeting.” Said Raymond as he blushed from hearing all the praises.
Mr. Lam looked at his sons and continued, “Ray you need to go to Cheng Dai-jong (Dai-jong is Barrister in Cantonese) and let him read through this first. He needs to clarify all the legal details before we pass this through the board meeting the day after.”
Raymond nodded, “I already booked an appointment with his secretary. I’m meeting him for lunch later on and we’ll talk about this during lunch. Don’t worry dad. I won’t let you and Gor down.”
“We have faith in you!” encouraged Louis as he patted his brother on the shoulder.

Raymond met Cheng Dai-jong for lunch later on to discuss the proposal. He had lunch in one of the hotels in Admiralty and after lunch he decided to walk around the malls for a while so that he could pick out some Christmas presents for his family. While shopping he spotted a barrister fully dressed in their wigs and cloak walk across towards the Government buildings. Suddenly a picture of Tavia’s face popped into his mind and he too blindly followed them towards the direction of the Government building, and eventually to the High Court offices.
Suddenly the crying of a baby snapped him back to reality. He looked around at the unfamiliar environment and saw a lady holding a baby begging a barrister, who to Raymond’s surprise turned out to be Tavia.
“Yeung Dai-jong, please… you have to help my husband. He cannot go to prison. If he goes, I do not know what my baby and I will do… You have to help him please.” Begged the crying lady who was about to kneel down.
“Don’t worry Mrs. Ho. I will try my very best and please get up. It’s my job. I will make sure Mr. Ho will not be in any trouble.” Smiled Tavia as she comforted the crying lady. “In the meantime, why don’t you take the baby home first. The trial will take the whole afternoon and plus, we still have many days to go.”
“Thank you. Thank you… You’re a very kind lady.” Replied the lady.
Tavia smiled and bid the lady goodbye. She turned to her assistant and walked into the Courtroom.
Raymond was happy to see Tavia again. He didn’t expect to see her but seeing her smile, somehow made him smile too. He took his phone out and dialed back to his secretary. “Susan. Please can you tell Mr. Lam that the meeting with Cheng Dai-jong went extremely well and he will paying a visit to our office tomorrow. Also, please tell my brother that I will not coming back to the office. I got something to do.”
“Sure thing Mr. Lam.” Susan replied on the other line.
“Thanks.” After hanging up, he followed Tavia into the courtroom and found a seat at the back row. Inside the courtroom, Tavia was too engaged in a conversation with her assistant while shuffling the documents around and she failed to notice Raymond’s existence.
“COURT…!” cried the officer in the court room and everyone got up when the judge entered the room.
During the whole time in court, Raymond couldn’t take his eyes off Tavia. Like a little fan at a concert, Raymond looked at Tavia as though she was some major celebrity and he’s her little fan. During the trial, she summoned the witnesses with tactic revealing the extremely professional and charismatic side of her. Not only did she have a pretty face, she was also a very kind and competent young lady who has definitely attracted Raymond’s attention.
After several hours of summoning and objection here and objection there, the trial finally ended for the day. They all stood up while the Judge left and the all began packing up.
“Good job today Tavia…!” Tavia’s assistant Chris said. “You should have seen how ruthless you were when you questioned that witness of theirs.” Laughed Chris.
“Hey I’m just doing my job here!” exclaimed Tavia.
“Anyhow, I’m going to go first. I need to go pick up some files from Mak’s Chamber. I’ll see you tomorrow.” Said Chris as he picked his briefcase and left the courtroom. No matter how professional Tavia was when she’s at work, she’s awfully clumsy when it comes to packing. Papers were sliding out and she’s busy picking them up. Everyone in the courtroom left except for Tavia who was still busy packing and Raymond who stood up from his seat. Tavia glanced around the empty courtroom, slightly embarrassed by the fact that she’s still clumsily clearing the desk and by the fact that she spotted Raymond looking at her with a big smile on his face.
Knowing that Tavia has spotted him, Raymond walked down and took his wallet out. “Hi Yeung Dai-jong. How are you?”
“I’m very well, Mr. Lam. What brings you here today?” smiled Tavia.
“I just passed by this area… and…” blushed Raymond.
Tavia chuckled, “Passing by the High Courts? That’s relatively unusual… Unless you’re in some kinda legal trouble…?”
“No no no. I really just passed by… Um…” denied Raymond as he shook his head vigorously.
Tavia laughed, “I’m just joking. Calm down.”
Raymond laughed along to cover up for all the embarrassment caused. “I’m wondering if…”
Tavia raised her eyebrows, “if..?”
Raymond opened his wallet and took her name card out. “Is this coupon still valid?” he mumbled without looking at Tavia in the eyes.
Tavia smiled, “Of course it is. But I thought I did state that you needed to make prior reservations…”
“Oh… sorry. I take it that you can’t make it tonight. It’s okay. Don’t worry about it. What about tomorrow night?”
This guy is really cute. He looks so nervous. Tavia thought to herself. “No Mr. Lam. I didn’t mean that I’m not free tonight.” Tavia said with a smile. “Actually, you’re really lucky. I am free for dinner tonight.”
“That’s great! What about tomorrow night?” asked Raymond.
“Hang on, you want to have dinner tonight or tomorrow night?” asked Tavia curiously.
“Um… dinner tonight and if possible, maybe dinner tomorrow night as well…” mumbled Raymond as he blushed.
“So both dinner’s on me? I thought the coupon was only valid for one meal…” Tavia joked.
“I mean…” Raymond he blurted. Knowing that he probably said the wrong thing. “I mean… dinner’s on you tonight. And I was hoping that I could take you out for dinner tomorrow night as well.”
“What’s the occasion tomorrow night?” continued Tavia. She felt like laughing but knew it’d be rude to laugh when she can feel that Raymond’s trying very hard to ask her out.
“Um… nothing special. Just me… wanting to ask you…. out for dinner…” Raymond replied as his voice trailed off.
“Tomorrow night should be fine too. So are we on tonight?” smiled Tavia who thought she shouldn’t try to give the poor Mr. Lam such a hard time.
“Yes.” Replied Raymond immediately. “I’ll book a table… what would you like to eat?”
“You’re the one with the coupon, your choice tonight. My choice tomorrow night.” Replied Tavia.
“Okay!” grinned Raymond happily.
“Before that, do you mind following me back to the office first so that I can take some documents with me?” Tavia asked happily.
“Sure thing. Did you drive?” Raymond asked.
“No. I was hoping you did… Mr. Lam” laughed Tavia.
“I did.” Raymond cried. “And… can you please call me Raymond or Ray instead of Mr. Lam, Yeung Dai-jong?”
“Okay Ray. Call me Tavia instead of Yeung Dai-jong!” as she picked her briefcase with all the other folders.
“Let me give you a hand… Tavia!” blushed Raymond when he said Tavia’s name and offered to carry her stuff for her.
“Thank you” giggled Tavia when she saw Raymond’s face turn red.
