Chapter 6

An hour later, both Raymond and Tavia walked out of the restaurant to. As usual, Raymond helped with the car door, etc. Inside the car, Tavia finally broke the silence. “Wow... that was a great meal. The food was really good Ray. Good recommendation!”
“Yeh... I’m really full as well...” agreed Raymond as he started the engine.
“And next time, do let me pay... I was supposed to pay for dinner!” cried Tavia as she punched Ray’s arm lightly.
“How can I let a pretty lady pay for my dinner? Plus, I'm saving the coupon for future uses!” replied Raymond as he laughed.
“Well... if I remember correctly, I’m supposed to meet you for dinner tomorrow. I can pay for dinner then...” stated Tavia.
“We’ll see. Where do you want to eat tomorrow night?” asked Raymond happily.
“Um... You know any good Thai restaurants...? I’m kinda craving for some spicy food...!” exclaimed Tavia.
“Uh... spicy food??” asked Raymond.
“Why don’t you like spicy food?” asked Tavia as she sensed a bit of reluctance in his tone. “If you don’t like spicy food, we can always go for some other cuisine. I’m up for anything!”
Again realizing that he should not have made that stupid comment, Ray cried out “No, no... I love spicy food. I’ll ask around and see if there’s any good Thai restaurants.”
Relieved by what Ray said, Tavia smiled. “Okay... cool!”
Just at this moment Raymond realized that he has no idea to where he’s driving to. “Uh... Tavia if you don’t mind telling me, where exactly do you live? I don’t know where I should be driving to?”
“Oh yes. Silly me. I never told you where I lived. How can you take me home?” laughed Tavia. “I live in No. 64 Peak Road.”
“Okie dokie” replied Raymond merrily.
“Excuse me? Did you just say ‘Okie dokie’?” giggled Tavia. “I can’t imagine a guy saying that... it’s so cute!”
A bit embarrassed, Raymond’s face started to turn red while he rubbed his head. Luckily it was kind of dark in the car so Tavia couldn’t see his face turning red. To cover up, Raymond started laughing.
Tavia unaware of the fact that Raymond’s face was turning red, laughed along.
“Let’s listen to some music...” suggested Raymond. He hit the play button and the song “No one else comes close” started to play.
“You sure like this song, don’t you? If I remember correctly, the first time I was in your car, you played this song as well...” said Tavia as she listened to the song.
“Yep. This is my favorite song.” Then all of a sudden he remembered that the first time he played this song when Tavia was riding his car, Tavia started crying. “Oh no... Does this song... um... bring back some unhappy memories?” asked the concerned Raymond.
Remembering what happened last time when she cried in Raymond’s car, Tavia laughed. “No silly... I just cried last time because I felt like crying. Actually, I really like this song as well.”
“Phew... That’s good...” replied Raymond.
The two of them continued to listen to the song and the rest of the CD by Joe.
Very soon, they arrived at Tavia’s house.
“Here we are.” Said Raymond who was upset that the journey was kind of short.
“Thank you.” said Tavia as she grabbed her bags. “Before I forget, this is for you!” Tavia reached into the paper bag and took out a big box.”
“What’s this for?” asked Raymond excitedly.
“Just a little something. Kind of had the feeling that you wouldn’t let me pay for dinner tonight. So I got you a little gift.” Replied Tavia cheekily.
“A gift?! For me?” said Raymond happily.
Tavia looked at Raymond and couldn’t help to think “my goodness, he’s so cute. Just like a little boy.” Tavia laughed and said, “Well, it’s a gift for you... unless you want to give it away.”
“No way. Can I open it now?” asked Raymond.
“Why don’t you open it when you get home...?” suggested Tavia.
Disappointed by what Tavia suggested. Raymond muttered, “okay.”
“Awww... poor little Ray can’t wait. Come on... don’t spoil the fun... Wait for a while!” exclaimed Tavia.
Raymond smiled and said “I’ll open it when you get back in the house... when you’re not around!”
“Okay. Whatever.” Tavia replied as she got out of the car. “Good night Raymond. Drive safely.”
“I’ll call you tomorrow when I decide where to eat and I’ll pick you up from work!” shouted Raymond out from the window.
“Okay!” yelled Tavia as she continued walking into towards the house.
Once Tavia entered the house and closed the door behind her, she let out a big smile and made her way up the stairs to her room.
Raymond on the other hand didn’t start the car immediately. He just couldn’t wait till he reached home to open the present. So immediately when Tavia disappeared, he opened the box. Seeing what was inside the box, Raymond started laughing. He took out his phone and called Tavia.
Tavia threw her bag on her bed when all of a sudden she heard her cell phone ring. “Hello...?”
“Uh... Hi Tavia. It’s Ray.” Said Raymond nervously on the other line.
“Oh hi Ray. How did you get my number?” asked Tavia.
“You gave me your name card... remember?”
“Oh that’s right?!” said Tavia as she smacked her forehead. “So what’s up?”
“Sorry... I couldn’t wait till I got home... Uh...” Said Raymond naughtily.
“You bad boy!!! You opened the present!” cried Tavia as she laughed.
“I love the present. Now my car has tissue again!!!” laughed Raymond happily.
“Glad you like it.” Tavia replied. Thinking to herself, she realized that Raymond is such a little boy.
“So you called just to tell me that you’re naughty because you opened the present when I told you specifically to open it when you get home... and to tell me that you love the present?” asked Tavia.
“Actually, I also called because... I remembered I never gave you my number. I hope your cell phone has caller’s ID?” asked Raymond.
“It sure does.” Tavia assured Raymond.
“Good... you have my number too! Anyhow, Goodnight. Sweet dreams.” Said Raymond as he hung up.
“Okay, goodnight.” Tavia replied.

When they both hung up and started to laugh at their previous conversation. Raymond started the engine and drove home while Tavia got ready to start some work.
Just as Tavia was about to start work she heard someone knock on her door. “Come in.” she yelled from her desk.
“Hm... my sister’s finally back. And I wonder where she went?” asked Matt suspiciously.
“Does it really concern you?” replied Tavia sarcastically.
Shrugging his shoulder, “Well... thought I should try to care for my sister a bit more. So did you go out with a guy? What’s his name...?”
“Hm... that’s none of your business!” smiled Tavia. “Instead, why don’t you tell me about you and Leila... Thought you guys went out for dinner tonight?! You should be more serious with Leila. She’s a great girl... plus she’s my best friend!”
“OH I’m sorry, my relationship with Leila is none of your business too!” replied Matt with a grin on his face.
“In that case, you and I have nothing to talk about then!” exclaimed Tavia.
“Fine with me!” said Matt as he got up and walked to the door. Before he closed the door, he stuck his tongue out at his sister and in return Tavia did the same thing. “Copy cat!”
“Oh grow up MATT!” yelled Tavia as she turned back to her work.
