Chapter 9

//Him//

I arrived to school, just to be greeted by the warm friendly sight of Gillian and Shawn making out, on the stairs. I remembered back to what she had said last night, about me never being considered.. I heaved a heavy sigh. Maybe I'm just not up to her standards. It's time for me to move on!

I saw the first girl I knew besides Gillian, that actually didn't have a boyfriend, and walked up to her. "Niki, will you go out with me?" I asked. Yes, I went for Niki Chow. Niki's jaw dropped, amazed at what I just asked her.

"Well, of course!" she exclaimed. I gave her the best smile I could, and she seemed to have grabbed the locker for support or something.

"So you wanna go out tonight?" I asked. She nodded. "Great. I'll pick you up at eight, okay? Dinner and a movie?" Again, Niki nodded. I kissed her cheek and waved goodbye. "See you later, okay?" Niki's hand moved up to her cheek, and I turned and walked to my class. So, that's it. I'm moving on. No more thinking about Gillian, and her ever changing boyfriend.

"WHAT?!?" Charlene's mouth dropped. "What happened to Gillian?"

"She's too oblivous. And I can't wait forever, you know," I replied. I had taken both Nic and Charlene by shock, when I informed them of the news. Niki was walking up to us, so Charlene and Nic couldn't say much. Lunch had just started, and I had begun sitting with Nic and Charlene. "Anyways, Nic, Charlene, this is Niki Chow." Niki smiled as I introduced them to her.

"It's nice to meet you," she said. Nic didn't take his eyes off her.

"Dude. Char. Girlfriend," I said, in the smallest words I could think of. He snapped out of it, and began to nuzzle Charlene's neck.

"Sorry baby," he said as he kissed her underneath her ear. She smiled, giggled and told him to stop, since they WERE at school. Nic gave her a disappointed look.

"Hey, Niki, let's walk around, how bout it?" I offered. she nodded. As we past Gillian and Shawn, Niki possesively grabbed my hand, and interlaced her fingers.

"I don't want you thinking about Gillian, okay?" she said. Whoa... freak?

"What makes you say that?" I asked, kind of amused, kinda freaked out.

"Well, everyone knows that you liked her. And I really like you, so I don't want you leaving me for her," Niki said.

"Yo ED!" Gillian's voice echoed through the cafeteria. Even though it was loud in there, her voice carried. I looked up at her, surprised to see that she was intently staring at Niki and my intwined hands. "Uhm... are you two together?" She asked. Niki gave her a look, telling her DUH! and I just nodded.

"Yeah, we are. So, we'll see you around, okay?" I said. I noticed Gillian got a little upset, but oh well. She never considers my feelings, so why consdier hers? I'm being really mean, I know, but I can't help it. She's pushed me to the edge already.

I picked Niki up from her house at eight, just like I said I would. So it's a little late for dinner... But I brought her flowers. I knocked on the door softly, just so it could be answered by a man, whom I presumed to be her father. "Hello," I said. "I'm here to pick up Niki, for our date."

The man just looked at me with angry eyes, and I felt a cold shiver go down my spine. But never once, did I leave his gaze. After a while, the man just started laughing, and welcomed me in. "Such a determined, strong young man. I see you're worthy of my daughter!" he exclaimed. "I'm Johnny Chow, you can call me Johnny... let me go get my daughter. You must be Edison Chen. She hasn't stopped talking about you since she got home." I tried to figure out if this was a good or bad thing.

Niki came walking down the stairs in some denim and a loose shirt that was pretty on her. She looked like she took some time to do her makeup and hair. "You look beautiful. You probably look too beautiful to be with me," I said. She blushed a little.. I think.

"So, we're off, right?" she asked. I nodded. "Are those for me?" She reffered to the flowers. I didn't even think about those!

"OH! Sorry, yes, these are for you," I presented them to her. She pulled them up to her nose, and took a deep whiff.

"They smell beautiful," She said. She grabbed a vase from the kitchen that was already filled with water, and placed them in the vase. "So, let's go." We walked out of her house, after bidding farewell to her father, whom set a curfew of midnight. Don't worry sir, I'll have her home waay sooner.

When I opened the passenger side to my car, I noticed another car, that I would see everyday in the driveway next to me... What was Gillian doing here?
